The accommodation was very charming and large. Bathroom, living room, bedroom, kitchen and even a large enclosed terrace where one could really relax outside both with privacy and shielded from the wind (was often very windy while we were there). One can actually cook there with a 4 burner gas stove and microwave. There was oil and spices but only 2 bent up forks and no spatula. There was both a coffee machine and a water cooker but we simply used the microwave to heat water. The refrigerator was large, rather new and clean. There was small simple washing machine but the electrical outlet in the kitchen where it was located was unusable. One needs to drain the water off onto the terrace anyway and there is a working outlet there. We only tried the washer to test if it works but actually just did a bit of laundry by hand and there is a mobile laundry stand to hang it up. The WiFi worked well as did the flat screen TV - although scrolling through about 100 channels from virtually all of the Arabian countries, we found all were in Arabic or a few in French but no CNN, BBC or even Al Jazeera in English. Maybe we gave up too soon but were not intent on watching TV anyway.

My biggest criticism would be that it whole place could be a bit cleaner. Not that there was anything disgusting but it could be more thoroughly cleaned. We had mixed feelings about the location. The neighborhood is very upscale, lots of large villas and even a couple of food stores, a café and a pharmacy just a few hundred meters away. It is really just 5 minutes or so to the Marian but the marina (where there are more shops and restaurants nearby) is about 10 minutes from the center. The whole neighborhood is a maze of winding streets and dead ends with no names even on Google maps. We always went by the Marina although there would be a shorter way to the center but we were a bit concerned at getting lost. We arrived in Houmt Souk after dark by bus and even the taxi driver was uncertain of the location (and he had google maps on his cell phone) and had to call to ask for directions. The adult son of the family that owns the place and lives next door speaks very good English and coordinates things.
