Swing & Pillows @ Malacca Mahkota Parade

The location is convenient, with walking distance to Jonker Street and other nearby attractions. However, unfortunately, the room conditions and customer service made our 3-day, 2-night stay quite disappointing. Upon entering the room, we immediately noticed a damp smell. The spring mattress was uncomfortable, and the carpet felt very dirty. Although I understand that the room rate is affordable, basic cleanliness and room maintenance should still be a priority. The check-in process was also quite exhausting. We had to contact the person in charge through WhatsApp and were asked to wait. However, after waiting for around 10 minutes in the heat with no updates or assistance, I had to call them directly before they finally started assisting us. The second day was even more frustrating. At 7 AM, I messaged them about the missing batteries in the air-conditioning remote. Later, at around 4 PM, I contacted them again regarding a defective water heater, but there was still no response to either issue until I called them directly. After the phone call, we were told that maintenance would be sent immediately. However, we still had to wait approximately another hour, and the maintenance staff only arrived around 5 PM. To make matters worse, the water heater’s fuse kept tripping, and we had to reset it ourselves. I also wonder why there is a reception counter if guests still have to rely on WhatsApp messages and phone calls to get assistance, especially when responses are so delayed. Overall, the location is the main advantage of this accommodation, but the room condition, cleanliness, maintenance, and communication need significant improvement. An affordable room does not mean guests should have to compromise on basic hygiene, functional facilities, and timely assistance. I hope the management takes this feedback seriously and improves the room inspection process and guest service. A convenient location is great, but a comfortable and hassle-free stay is equally important.
