    Be sure to avail their dinner and breakfast at least once! they're to live for! Makes me want to be adopted by the owners haha! Seriously, your Kusatsu trip will not be complete without staying in this hot spring inn. Be sure to try this inn!

    We had a pleasant experience. The hotel was very clean and peaceful. The hosts made us feel that we were part of their family. They served amazing meals with high end ingredients. Overall, I highly recommend this hotel.

    My dad and I stayed at this homely hot spring inn at the end of April in 2025 and were pleasantly surprised by the warm hospitality of the married couple who took over this famous local inn back in September 2024. We enjoyed staying in the clean tatami room, having access to the two private baths with hot spring water flowing non-stop directly from the Mandai hot spring, and eating food (both dinner and breakfast) that was prepared with fresh local ingredients that were literally handpicked in the mountains by the owners that day and presented in such a beautiful way. i could tell that the married couple were very passionate about food and love to cook all kinds of dishes -- both Japanese and non-Japanese. They apparently run a catering business in central Tokyo as well. Even after we had devoured our wonderful dinner, the owners kept serving us new delicious dishes as we continued to engage in conversations about food, living, traveling, and working abroad, and our respective personal stories. The more we ate, drank, and conversed, the more they continued to surprise and spoil us with unexpected delicious treats. They had a really great selection of drinks as well. If you're looking for an experience that involves more one-on-one interaction and a personal touch as opposed to a cookie-cutter operation run by a larger hotel or ryokan experience, then I would definitely recommend staying here. The owners who have both lived abroad and have international experience, can converse in English and other languages. The location is great -- only a ten-minute walk away from the town center as well as from the famous Sainokawara Hot Spring. The surroundings are quiet and the water from the hot spring will make your skin silky smooth. I'll definitely be returning to this inn if I visit Kusatsu again. Overall, we had a wonderful experience here and enjoyed getting to know the friendly owners.

    If you've read some reviews on Google and are worried, don't be. There is a new manager running this place that are incredibly welcoming and has very good English -speaking skills. They were very flexible; I had to check in very late, and they even offered to cook me a late dinner upon my arrival (which was way more delicious than I was expecting). The private onsen was wonderful, too. It's close to Yubatake as well. I highly recommend this place for anyone looking into traveling to Kusatsu (and truly, more tourists should check Kusatsu out)!
