The internet is definitely not on par, and during our stay, the electricity went out twice for normal use. Everything did come to a bitter end when the host started nitpicking about cleanliness and his definition of what it means to be a good dweller. Let me remind the host that we are travellers, not short-term rental dwellers. We treat the apartment as a semi-hotel, but we will not clean and organize it like professional maids. This is the job of the host, and it should be expected for the cost that is paid. DO NOT expect us to do YOUR job. We did not damage anything, nor did we leave any trash (things that rot and smell). We left used towels on the floor, unused items in the fridge, and at sporadic places in the apartment, just like we usually did and as most hosts we stayed with and booked through booking.com had no problem with. His assumption that this custom and behaviour equate to being not educated enough is dumbfounded. I bet he doesn't travel much! His way of recording the apartment's status and photos, to me, shows that the host is nitpicking about cleanliness and expects a spot-on return to the apartment's original condition, including the bedsheets, and, ironically, proves my very point that we are not really messing with the apartment. I found it funny that other apartments I have stayed in Italy, such as Brescia, Milan, Venice, and Naples, told us to do exactly the opposite (all Italian context). He further accuses us of damaging the window mesh when, under this unbearable heat, we did nothing but turn on the a/c all the time! Never ever did we touch the window or mesh; we didn't even know there was one! P.S. Their response is not helping them; travellers would have seen this as normal waste left from a normal holiday stay and would find it funny, with a gasp of "Really, come on!" Please do show the photos; they would show how much more time the cleaners would need, which is none really!
