Brand New Beach house with roof top near bay and beach

Beautiful beach house, everything was newly renovated and beautifully decorated. Great location close to the beach and boardwalk.

I understand the vacation rental business, but not making the $350 cleaning fee known up front in the listing on a $4100 3 night stay and asking for me to send a ‘discounted’ $250 after the fact was a bit off-putting. Having to pay it through Venmo/Apple Pay can seem a little sketchy and then being asked for $8 more to cover the fee for marking it as a purchase when the fee was really $7.47 made me question the legitimacy of the request further. I’m not complaining that there was a cleaning fee, but the amount is not advertised anywhere, people book what’s within their budget so knowing what other expenses there will be would be nice prior to being locked in for a stay. To add insult to injury when we entered the ‘cleaned’ house every trash can was stuffed full of the previous occupant’s trash. There was hair in the shower and a pair of boxers under the sink of the master bath. The person texting me made me feel like a ‘problem guest’ which I absolutely am not. The house listing said there would be toiletries in the bathrooms, but upon arrival there were none and when I texted to ask where I could find them I was ignored so we had to go out and buy them. Our stay was during an especially hot weekend and the AC seemed to struggle to keep up, we had to buy a fan for the bunk room. All 3 lower floors were pretty warm until the outside temps came down.
