As early as 1998, Rysum was named the most beautiful village in Lower Saxony. Surrounding the church—located at the highest point of the historic Warfendorf and home to one of the oldest playable organs in the world—are the former farmworkers’ and craftsmen’s houses, as well as large farmsteads, arranged in a circular pattern, creating the distinctive charm of this circular village.

On the outer ring of the village stands the Gulfhof, believed to have been built by Ufko Andreesen van Senden around 1890. In recent years, it has been extensively renovated with great attention to detail and in accordance with historic preservation standards, and converted into an exceptional vacation retreat featuring 15 high-quality apartments.
Even during the renovation phase, the old building successfully withstood many adverse conditions—including wind, weather, and, above all, water—and now proudly shines in new splendor.

All apartments are duplexes and feature modern floor plans. By incorporating the historic post-and-beam framework into the interior design, the units also acquire a special, distinctive character. Underfloor heating, solid wood parquet floors, and fixtures and ceramic tiles from renowned manufacturers ensure a high level of living comfort. Each apartment includes a spacious terrace as well as a parking space with a storage shed. The outdoor areas of the approximately 4,000-square-meter property are characterized, particularly on the south and east sides, by spacious green spaces that have been tastefully landscaped with shrubs and hedges. A grove of mature trees rounds out the overall picture.

The Gulfhof van Senden is the ideal starting point for a wide range of activities: hiking, biking, or kayaking in Krummhörn; cultural excursions to popular nearby towns such as Greetsiel, Pilsum, Norden/Norddeich, and Emden; or even day trips to the nearby East Frisian islands of Borkum, Norderney, and Juist. The somewhat secluded, little-known natural beach at Knock is just a short bike ride away and is a special highlight.



Gulfhof van Senden - Bente (first floor/upper floor):

In the two-story BENTE vacation rental, the first floor features a living-dining area with an open kitchen, a guest restroom, an entryway with a coat closet, and a storage room. Upstairs, you’ll find two bedrooms and a bathroom with a shower, bathtub, and toilet.

Home cooks will love the fully equipped kitchen, featuring a Bora cooktop, a built-in oven, a microwave, a dishwasher, and a refrigerator. Start your day with a cup of hot East Frisian tea or an espresso from the Nespresso machine while sitting on the cozy bench in the dining area, overlooking the patio and the greenery.

Entertainment is provided by a 55" TV with internet and satellite connections, as well as free Wi-Fi.
The DAB radio plays your favorite music or your Spotify playlist.
Bookworms of all ages will find books and magazines on the shelf upstairs, and the extensive game collection has something for everyone. Or how about a game of bocce or badminton outside?

Bedroom I features a double bed (1.60 m x 2.00 m) with two mattresses of different firmness levels, as well as a dresser. The bed’s under-bed lighting creates a cozy atmosphere, which you can easily control with a remote. Or you can simply gaze at the stars through the large skylight.

Bedroom II features two large single beds (1.00 m x 2.00 m) and a desk.
A large wardrobe offers ample storage space.
Both bedrooms are equipped with blackout blinds and insect screens.

Furthermore, all accessible electrical outlets in the vacation rental are equipped with built-in child safety covers.

The spacious bathroom features a toilet, a walk-in shower, and a large vanity with wooden countertops.
A large, heated mirror with backlighting and a built-in makeup mirror adds to the comfort.
After a long bike ride along the dikes of Krummhörn, you can enjoy a relaxing bath here by candlelight—perhaps with a glass of wine.
Music from the built-in radio makes showering and bathing even more enjoyable.

You can round off a lovely day by the sea on the cozy terrace with a delicious grilled sausage from our charcoal grill and plan your next great day of vacation in East Frisia.

The Bente apartment comes with a shed. There, you can store your bikes and charge your e-bikes. You can also park your stroller here.

There are several charging stations for electric cars in the parking lot.
