About this house rental
Finnabotnen—an oasis, absolutely unique, completely secluded.
A historic wooden house in the spectacular Finnafjord, one of the smallest branches of the Sognefjord, yet among the most beautiful.
Our vacation home is located in Finnabotnen, a side arm of the Sognefjord, with no roads or permanent residents.
Transportation to our fjord and our house is either by RIB/speedboat from Vik in Sogn (10 minutes) or by ferry. Due to the water level in the strait at Finden, the ferry can only reach Finnabotnen within 2 hours of high tide.

The wooden house was built in the 18th century, and following extensive renovations, it now features a large open kitchen, a bathroom with a separate laundry room, and an authentic living room with a wood-burning stove that can heat the entire house.
Located on the edge of Stølsheimen National Park, Finnabotn offers spectacular opportunities for hiking—both with and without a guide—fishing in the Sognefjord or in the fish-rich waters of the Finnafjord, and numerous other outdoor activities such as diving, kayaking, or rock climbing. The entire house, with the exception of a locked storage room at the entrance, is available to our guests.
Starlink internet with unlimited data in the house.
We can assist with boat rentals (no boating license required) at an affordable daily rate, guided mountain hikes, fishing trips, and RIB safaris on the Sognefjord and surrounding areas
There is no cell phone reception in Finnabotn, but with our Starlink internet at the cabin, we are always available to our guests

Staying in this incredible home in Finnabotn was the highlight of our Norway vacation. This "secret" branch of the Sognefjord offers a truly authentic, off-the-grid experience. There is no road access so we rented a boat—the only way to get here—through Vik Adventures and the journey itself was part of the adventure, a scenic 25 to 45-minute ride on the fjord from Vikøyri, depending on conditions.The home itself is a quiet, rustic retreat with some modern updates, preserved to maintain its historical features as part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The scenery is absolutely stunning, with enormous waterfalls serving as a backdrop. We spent our time exploring the area, hiking to the top of the mountain where the waterfalls begin, and enjoying the wild berries. We boated to Balestrand for dinner one night. Every evening, we'd sit on the dock listening to the sounds of the falls. This is a perfect escape for anyone looking for an authentic, off-the-beaten-path experience. NOTE: you need to pack your groceries, as there are no stores nearby!
