Location
Sardinia’s north-western coast is less developed than the better-known Costa Smeralda, but there is a lot to see and do close by. The town of Sorso has all the amenities guests might need: ATM, supermarket, pharmacies etc. Sorso’s weekly market (Saturday morning) is the place to pick up the freshest local ingredients. If you miss that then there are 3 supermarkets in the town for your daily needs.
The closest beach is Spiaggia Marina di Sorso (7 minutes) which is ideal for families thanks to its shallow pristine water. There are cafés and bars on the beach and a play area for children. More adventurous visitors can even try kite surfing on the wide sands.
Just 25 minutes up the coast is Castelsardo, considered one of the ‘100 Most Beautiful Villages in Italy’. The village gets its name from Doria Castle which dominates the clifftop and is in excellent condition. Exploring the winding streets and enjoying the local restaurants makes a rewarding day out.
Alghero airport is 40 minutes away. If you are coming by ferry there is a direct service from Porto Torres (20 minutes) to several ports in France, Italy and Spain.
