About this cottage rental
This cozy cottage is the perfect spot for couples and solo travelers looking to stay in a residential neighborhood in the beautiful island of Barbados. You'll be tucked away just 1km from the beach and can explore the island using this cottage as your home away from home! We would be happy to help you plan the perfect holiday.
The cottage was designed to be very open and airy with shutters for windows instead of glass panes (no A/C in the living area), and there is an additional ceiling fan and A/C in the bedroom to keep you cool in the Barbados sunshine. The open plan living area features a very comfortable sitting area and TV with a ceiling fan, and the kitchen is stocked with all the appliances and kitchenware you'll need on vacation. The bedroom has a comfortable queen-sized bed, A/C, ceiling fan, closet space and an en-suite bathroom. The bathroom is unique with an indoor/outdoor shower that has two shower heads, and a beautiful shell and stone vanity.
The cottage is located on the "platinum" West Coast of Barbados, but is tucked away in a neighborhood away from the hustle and bustle. There may be some neighbourhood noises heard from time to time (roosters, dogs, etc). The beach is located just 1km away, and further down the coast are restaurants, bars, and shopping centers. Whilst the cottage is in walking distance of the beach / main coast road, the return trip will be uphill.
The property manager is just a phone call away should you need assistance. Please know that we can assist you with anything you need to make this an amazing vacation from the get-go: dining recommendations, snorkel excursions, island tours.. and more are just some of the things we can assist with.
Complimentary housekeeping services are offered 1 day a week.

This is a bungalow next to a mansion in a residential neighborhood near Holetown in Barbados. The surroundings are beautiful and the house is unusual in that there are no glass windows, just openings that have wooden shutters. This gives you a feeling of living outdoors, but with an air conditioner. Initially we were worried about opening the windows and bugs coming in, but there was no issue with that in time of year that we visited (early March). So for most of the time, the windows were open and a lovely breeze went through the house. The house is on top of a steep hill and you really need a car to get anywhere. In the mornings, monkeys would visit the front yard, picking coconuts, which was spectacular. One minor thing is that the kitchen appliances are old. The only oven is a toaster oven, which sometimes did not work. Overall, we had a wonderful and unique experience of living closer to nature.

Housekeeper wonderful. Agency responsive when I asked for proper wine glasses. Great place for WFH as internet very good. Less so for relaxing, as no private garden, no pool and no loungers so you had to drive out to relax in the sun. Very comfortable firm bed. That was a big bonus for my husband who has a bad back. Tv programmes were dire - needs Netflix or similar. No books or helpful info about things to see and do. Nutshell Tourist booklet a year out of date so we left an up to date one, and a few leaflets. Building work was mostly not bad - a couple of builders and a wheelbarrow, though the stone cutting at 7am one day was a loud wake up call. Biggest bug bear were the bins for the whole Marsh Mellow property, that were dumped in front of our gatehouse cottage by the entrance. The existing binstore (opposite the other gatehouse) was too small for the big bins. Very unsightly and this really devalued the rental price - not what one expects and very easily solved.

Comfortable home, great shower, excellent AC, privacy outside & quiet neighborhood, lots of TV channels. The host was fast to respond to any questions and requests.

The location is close to drive to local areas and beaches. We also had monkeys on the property one morning which was lovely to see. We enjoyed the outdoor shower/ bathroom concept but I would advise that this does mean the bathroom often has unexpected guests - frogs, cockroaches, milipedes etc. There were some issues upon check in with the cleanliness of the bedding & towels. Once we spoke with the property manager on this, it was rectified & they were responsive to our issues. I would say that the photos online are quite dated and the property is no longer in the good condition depicted - it requires a refurbishment. There are no windows in the property (aside from in the front door), the rest of the property is only wooden shutters. This does make it hard to keep the AC cool air inside when you want to let light into the property & can be noisey with local wildlife in the night time.
