This private Villa offers a unique setting not found with other rentals in the Lake Arenal area. Our property is part of a 30 acre private estate on Lake Arenal and includes a rain forest preserve that has a spring fed stream bordering our property, the lake, hiking trails in the jungle canopy and water features throughout the tropical gardens.
There are 7 distinct areas on the 1.5 acre Villa to enjoy: the home, Patio, Pool area, Meditation pond, Plunge pool picnic area, Forest bathing Isaiah Spring area and the rain forest stream hiking paths.
The house is a 2 story, 2 bedroom, 2 bath home that sleeps up to 7 guests. It has a view of the lake from balcony, patio and every room. The second story master suite has it’s own private entrance, kitchen and balcony. Relax and vacation at our rental home and enjoy sunsets, bird watching, swimming and the sounds and ambiance of nature.

The Villa is the perfect place for a secluded getaway where you and your family can use as a home base as you explore the northern part of Costa Rica with day trips and excursions to nearby sights and attractions. While at this rainforest retreat you will enjoy a spectacular setting with incredible views of Lake Arenal and the surrounding mountains during the day and the lights reflecting on the lake from Tronadora at night. The rain forest and tranquil lifestyle are ideal for any traveler in need of a digital reset and a little rest and relaxation from the technology that permeates modern life.
The sounds and images of this rainforest preserve are all part of the experience of staying at the Lake View Villa. Imagine waking up hearing the running water of the stream, the unique sound of the howler monkeys, and dozens of birds as they explore the trees surrounding the house. Bird watching in this temperate zone climate offers as many as 300 different species of birds in Costa Rica. We have seen keel billed toucans, tanagers, parrots, hummingbirds, red legged honeycreepers, hawks and a virtual potpourri of colorful feathered friends eating at the nearby bird perch.
Exploring the Area:
The town of Nuevo (New) Arenal is only about a 10-minute drive from the Villa and has changed little in the past 20 years. It remains a typical Costa Rican village with just enough grocery stores, bakeries, bars and restaurants to serve the community. A few minutes walk from the property is The Rana German Restaurant where you can feast on great food and see a collection of poison dart frogs. There are many great restaurants in Nuevo Arenal where you can enjoy the delicious pizza at Moyas, gourmet food at the Gingerbread, breakfast at Lucky Bug or typical Costa Rican food at Las Tinejas.
Less than an hour away is the town of La Fortuna situated at the base of the Arenal volcano There are multiple excursions and activities available such as Zip lining, river rafting, hot springs and ATV excursions.
After exploring, it is great to get back to the cooler comfort of the house so you can relax for the evening watching the sun set or a movie. There is a large collection of DVD’s for your enjoyment and a television and DVD player upstairs and downstairs and lots of games

The property beautiful, lots of birds and wildlife. Nuevo Arenal was a close drive and lots of great food, especially Cafe Italia, some of the best Italian food we have ever had. Only downside to the property was no clear access to the lake (never found a path) and plunge pool was very cold and actually only about foot deep (so no real plunge). That all being said we would stay again as it is a great value and beautiful vistas of the lake.

We had a great stay at the Villa! loved the views, birds, nature, beds and wonderful bathrooms, laundry and shower! I didn't read well enough to see there was no oven, so our first quick pick up was an oven lasagna from the frozen section. We ended up using the grill to bake it. It worked but we had some burnt ends :) Things are a little dated but everything was in working order. Some information should be updated. I don't think there is a way to the lake and the wellness path isn't really accessible without boots, walking sticks and an adventurous body. It makes a short path into jungle but stops with a barbed wire fence. Several houses nearby and one with barking dogs - albeit, not very much. We would definitely recommend to others. A bird lovers paradise for sure! We put out fruit and drew in lots of winged friends.

We worked with Dennis from the management co., and he was very accommodating. He replied quickly and resolved all our issues in a timely manner.Amenities were excellent, with great views, the variety of birds were incredible, we had a great time.

There’s two parts to this listing- the inside and the outside. The outside was 10/10. It was a perfect setting, with hiking available straight from your door. We saw flocks of toucans, poisonous dart frogs, monkeys, parakeets & more. The surrounding land, gardens and forest were a complete dream. It was exactly what we wanted and why we stayed. The inside had some challenges. The listing made it seem like there are two bedrooms. There are two bedrooms… one in each separate apartment. This was a problem for us, as we were traveling with young children & can’t leave them by themselves in a totally separate place. I wouldn’t have booked this if I had known that. The roof was leaking in the downstairs bedroom and the laundry room was letting water in. It was rainy season & it rained daily. This made the house smell of mold & mildew. We had to keep all windows open with fans on to tolerate it. Finally, the beds were very, very hard. Having said all that… the property management company was 10/10. They were extremely responsive and helpful. They responded to every request- helped us move a bed so we could all sleep in the upstairs room, fixed the roof and laundry room water issues and found us a mattress topper. They offered local suggestions and were kind. Excellent management company.It’s an older home with some maintenance issues & the listing needs to be clearer about there being two separate apartments. But can you really trade waking up to rainforest animals & nature?
