About this house rental
Stay inside the gates of Yosemite National Park without the hassles associated with the accommodations offered in Yosemite Valley. You will not have to battle traffic or fight for parking in Yosemite West, nor will you be choking on campfire smoke. Yosemite West is extremely peaceful and quiet even during the big holiday weekends. You can save lots of money by preparing your own meals in the spacious and fully equipped kitchen while enjoying the sunset on the edge of the wilderness. Note this is a duplex and the owner/groundskeeper lives in the separated (100% firewall) unit below and to the right.

The host was very responsive to questions and very friendly and helpful. The property was at the end of the Yosemite West Parkway road, which was great for privacy. While located within the Park, the drive to the Yosemite Valley area was about 35-40 minutes each way with no traffic. The property is much closer though to the roads to Glacier Point and Mariposa Grove. Since we were not the types to utilize the kitchen to cook lunch or dinner, it was not feasible to drive back and forth if we planned to eat dinner at The Ahwahnee Hotel or Yosemite Valley Lodge so we planned to be out all day for those days. However, one night we ordered takeout pizza from the Curry Village area to eat at the property. Since we were only two couples, renting a 3 bedroom property probably was not a good cost benefit specifically for us. This was my first time renting a property with VRBO, so I know what to look for in the future. The host uses a housekeeping service so it was not necessary for us to do too much when leaving, but this was probably factored into the cost.My only recommendations would be to fix the leaky faucet in the upstairs bathroom, replace the shower curtains in both bathrooms, and fix the screen door to the balcony so it is functional.All in all, our agenda was such that we did not spend much time on the property except to sleep and eat breakfast, but being within the Park was still better than staying at a property outside the Park.

The house is in a nice location in a community of other homes, about a 40 minute drive from Yosemite Valley. The living space in the house was nice - very big living and dining room and kitchen area with large windows overlooking the forest. Plenty of dishes and pots & pans in the kitchen as well. The only issues were that the beds were all incredibly uncomfortable and difficult to sleep on which is quite the letdown after a long day of hiking, and the shower curtain in the main floor bathroom could definitely benefit from a wash.
