The place was anlmost adequate. It actually felt a lot like camping due to the low water quality, (literally yellow out of all faucets, we bought water from the Piggly Wiggly down the road,) and also the road to get to the home being so rough. There were also a lot of ants in the kitchen, on one counter in particular. The host had mentioned putting a bait trap out, but the ants seemed amused by it if anything. The sliding glass door being shattered didn’t bother me as the owner had made me aware of an incident with a rock and a mower, but to open the part that wasn’t broken proved difficult during the week-long stay. The host provided plenty of towels and had snacks out to welcome us, though they also left their personal hygiene items in the shower and bathroom, and their food in the refrigerator and cabinets which made us feel kind of uncomfortable; almost as if we were invading someone else’s territory. There were even alcoholic beverages in the refrigerator, freezer, and cabinet, and my veteran husband is a recovering alcoholic, so I thought that was of poor taste. It wouldn’t take much to put things away in a locked closet/ cabinet to have such items out of sight and therefore out of mind. We loved watching the hummingbirds fly around the feeders they had hanging out on the patio and even saw a deer or two in the backyard, so the nature of area is beautiful. There were just a few things that needed improvement to stay competitive in the hospitality business.
