LA MAISONNETTE DE ROBINSON HILLSIDE VIEW IDEAL FOR TWO!

This small maisonette near Isle-sur-la-Sorgue was (almost) exactly what I had dreamed of: a pleasant home-like base from which to explore Provence and enjoy cooking our own meals, for a change, using the magnificent products sold in local town markets. David and Florence were friendly and helpful. The bed was comfortable, the kitchen was large enough and fully stocked with the necessary cookware and utensils, and altogether the lodging was clean and cozy. The location is very convenient. Unfortunately in November we did not have a chance to use the tempting outdoor spaces. The garden backs onto a fairly busy two-lane road, so this is not a true "escape" into the countryside. That would not trouble us, but it might be a factor for others. There were only a few drawbacks. With no rugs on the bare floors, we were very glad we brought slippers in a cool season. We took advantage of the free bicycles, and found that the gears were rusted into one or two positions. More important, the secure Internet does not reach the cottage, so we were forced to an open site and thus prevented from using the Internet to the fullest. When that open site went down, the hosts did not reply to our text messages for 24 hours, and we had to hunt them down to reset the router. Because it was rainy and we wanted to stream movies rather than go out touring that day, this was a disappointment. If you truly want a private, off-the-grid getaway, and you don't mind being near the road, this is a very welcoming and comfortable option. With the exception of the Internet problem, we enjoyed our stay a great deal.

Unique and classy accommodation in rural area. Nice pool and property and our Gite was very private and well designed. Hélène, Florence and David were very accommodating. Very frustrated trying to find it! No exact address given (HomeAway) and phone # given on our Email did not work..kept going to Not in Service). Helpful neighbours got us connected finally. Our first experience using a French cell phone...you have to take off the first few digits an replace with a zero). Minor issue in hindsight.

Beautiful setting - great pool & gardens. Gite very well equipped. Magical setting at night. Family owners were welcoming and helpful. Main issue is that being remote its difficult to find even with sat nav. Owner had to come and find us (thanks Helene) Other minor Issues - Non French speaking a massive dis-advantage. Wifi is public therefore not a secure network. reception can be hit and miss.
