OCEANSIDE Waves — Sea Isle Hills Dr. — In spite of trying to find a reason to continue your search for a vacation rental, IN SPITE OF OURSELVES just may make you stop right here. Located nearly equal distance from both the ocean and Pamlico Sound — with views of each visible from multiple decks — this spacious four-bedroom/three full and two-half bath home checks all the boxes for those seeking the quintessential Hatteras Island experience.
One of those boxes is that you can bring up to two dogs, so no family member is left behind. If you’re hoping to get some fishing in, there’s a fish cleaning table and an outdoor shower to rinse off after a day in or on the water. Hang out in the lower level’s media room featuring a spacious sectional sofa to watch the Smart TV and a small beverage refrigerator to keep your beverages sufficiently chilled. There’s a love seat/single sleeper sofa and a half-bath here, too.
The first level is home to three of the home’s four bedrooms including a queen master bedroom with ensuite bath and a queen and two single bunk beds that share a full hallway bathroom. All of these rooms have access to a covered deck. The final bedroom, a king master, with a spacious ensuite bath featuring a jetted tub and access to an ocean-facing deck, is located on the second level. All of the bedrooms are equipped with Smart TVs.

"In Spite of Ourselves" was the perfect home for our spring break getaway. It was super clean, well appointed and comfortable for our family. They thought of just about everything, so we were able to just relax and enjoy our stay. The area itself was quiet and away from the touristy areas, which we prefer. It was a nice halfway point between Nags Head and Ocracoke. Everywhere we wanted to visit was within a half hour drive. The beach was a quick and easy 5 minute walk down the street. We had a fabulous time and would definitely recommend this home.

Beautiful and comfortable home, equipped with all the comforts to make a wonderful and memorable vacation with the family. My only complaint lies with the surf or sound rental company. Shortly
after we arrived (Sunday, August 18), we discovered that the plumbing under the kitchen sink had a significant leak due to loose plumbing. On Monday morning (August 19), I contacted the property manager and she did send maintenance out, they were unable to fix the issue, stating that an actual plumber was needed and that they would send one. No one came. The next morning on Tuesday (August 19), I again contacted the property manager who stated she would look into it but I then never heard back, nor did a plumber ever come to repair the issue, therefore causing us to transport dishes back and forth between the kitchen and the small bathroom sink, in order to wash them for the rest of our vacation. While we enjoyed our stay at this property, I would not stay due to the poor customer service from the rental company.
