About this house rental
Escape to Ellen’s Edge, a modern mountain retreat in the Vermont woods for up to 15 guests. Just 0.5 miles from Sugarbush Resort, this stylish 5-bedroom home is perfectly located for fall foliage adventures, scenic hikes, and exploring the Mad River Valley. After a crisp autumn day, soak in the hot tub, enjoy the home theater and game room, play cornhole, or work out in the home gym. Perfect for families and groups!
We believe in giving our guests complete privacy to enjoy their retreat. We will not be present during your stay but are always available via your booking platform if you have any questions or need assistance.
Ellen’s Edge is a private and conveniently located just minutes from Sugarbush’s Mt. Ellen Resort and Mad River Glen. Downtown Waitsfield is easily and quickly accessible from this home. Skiing, snow shoeing, hiking, biking, nature walks and mountain adventures are readily near this property. This area is directly on the trail network and only a short distance to popular swimming holes. Nearby are some of the Valley’s popular wedding venues and well known restaurants/breweries such as American Flatbread and Lawson’s Finest Liquids!
Guests will have complete and private access to the entire home, including all interior spaces, the backyard deck, and the hot tub.
* Private Entrance: Check-in is simple and secure with a self-check-in electronic keypad.
* Gear Storage: You will have access to the shed for convenient storage of your ski gear, bikes, or other equipment.
Welcome to your modern mountain retreat with stylish decor and bright, natural light, creating a relaxed atmosphere for up to 15 guests.
*Main Living Area:
The main floor features a spacious, open-plan living and dining area. Unwind in the comfortable living room in front of the warm fireplace, or share a meal at the large dining table.
*Bedrooms & Sleeping Arrangements:
- 5 private bedrooms provide comfort and privacy for the whole group.
- A Pack N Play and a feeding booster are available for our youngest visitors.
*Entertainment & Relaxation:
- The Adrenaline Zone: A private game room featuring basketball, air hockey, foosball, and a classic arcade table.
- Theater Area: Enjoy a movie night on the 75” TV.
- Outdoor Deck: Soak in the inviting hot tub or gather around the outdoor fire table under the stars.
- Home Gym: Keep up with your fitness routine in our personal home gym.
Parking: In the summer there is space for 5 cars and 4 cars are the max in the winter to allow for plowing. A car is generally necessary to get around the Mad River Valley and in the winter, a vehicle with all wheel drive is strongly recommended. Limited taxing services are available. In the winter Green Mountain Transit offers a free shuttle bus to transport you around the Mad River Valley. The house guidebook has local restaurants, shops, attractions and tips.
Guests will be provided linens, bathroom towels, hot tub towels, toilet paper and hand soap. Guests will need to bring their own personal toiletries along with any disposable kitchen products they may need (paper plates, Saran Wrap, etc.). Air conditioning is installed on the 2nd floor foyer and cools from the top down in addition to a whole home air exchange. The house is secluded and in a very peaceful setting. You need to have a sturdy vehicle as the road to the house is unpaved and subject to nature’s effects (we had some potholes to navigate due to a heavy rain). The outside is quaint and unassuming but the inside is updated, spacious, and furnished well. I loved the ski themes for the bedrooms and the decor throughout the house. We were staying as a family of 10 (7 adults and 3 kids (11,10,1.5) and had plenty of room. The gym had enough space and equipment for my needs. The game room was a huge bonus and kept the kids entertained for hours when the weather was not suitable for outdoor play. When the weather improved, the older 2 got to explore the yard to search for sticks for marshmallow roasting, salamanders and whatever else they came up with. The hot tub and deck with the stream in the backyard is the perfect setting to unwind. The rooms have plenty of space and the bed placement in each is well thought out. The upstairs bath has a water closet which was great because multiple people could use the bathroom at one time, but be mindful of the shower floor as it was a bit slick. The kitchen had everything we needed and was a great layout for all of us to hang out at once. The host, Samantha, was very responsive and checked in often to ensure we were taken care of, which was much appreciated! If you are in the Mad River area for any reason and need a place to stay, I would HIGHLY recommend staying here.

We had a wonderful time. The house was perfect…nicely appointed, lots of fun games, a great location and the hot tub after a day of skiing was the best!

The house is beautiful and literally 2 minutes drive from Mt Ellen base lodge. The beds are extremely comfortable and the game room downstairs is an amazing space for kids. Huge TV downstairs where we watched the Super Bowl. Everything is the house is labeled wonderfully. The hot tub on deck was in great shape and heated up fast. The host Samantha was extremely responsive during our stay. Absolute 10 out 10. We’ll be back next year.
