About this cottage rental

This half-round property is set amidst trees in the grounds of the Bainaboth Estate, offering a peaceful retreat.. "Acres of peaceful and secluded countryside surround these magnificent cottages..."

At the heart of Glenprosen, one of the renowned ‘Glens of Angus’, lies the Balnaboth Estate on the edge of the Cairngorms National Park; 6,000 peaceful and secluded acres surrounding 16th-century Balnaboth House. In its midst, these six characterful holiday cottages each offer a unique and magical holiday retreat; indeed the creator of Peter Pan himself (Sir James Barrie) was born in nearby Kirriemuir and holidayed here.

These cottages were once occupied by shepherds, gardeners or other staff of the Ogilvy family when this was a traditional Victorian sporting estate. Red squirrels play in the trees, otters frequent the burns, and deer graze all around. Because of the varied scenery, that varies from beech woods to forest, pasture to heather moor, mountain streams to river pools, the area enjoys a spectacular range of wildlife, including species largely extinct elsewhere in Britain, such as black game and ptarmigan.

Magnificent walking, bird-watching, mountain biking and (in season) cross-country skiing abound on the estate and, further afield, downhill skiing at Glen Shee (25 miles). Fishing is available on a 5-mile stretch of the River Prosen, and there are twenty golf courses within an hours’ drive.

Enjoy the seclusion of this beautiful glen - peaceful, relaxing, scenic - yet just a few minutes’ drive from bustling market towns and busy fishing harbours which hug the Angus coastline, as well as from the city of Dundee which offers many attractions for all the family. The exciting Dundee Contemporary Arts is a stunningly-designed centre which incorporates galleries, a print studio and two art-cinema screens, while the Mills Observatory is Britain’s only full-time public observatory with a resident astronomer.

Good road, rail and air access to Angus provide easy access from all parts of the UK or international destinations. Shop 9-10 miles.. 1 step to entrance.

We didn't realise we had to pay for the electricity we used. This really should have been included in the price. Also, could benefit with s fresh coat of paint.Apart from that, we had a lovely peacefull week. The grounds are simply stunning.

Perfect location to socially distance from the hectic life in the beautiful Angus Glens. Tinkerbelle is not luxurious but very comfortable with fabulous walks and cycles right from the door. We had an issue on arrival which was quickly resolved by Robert the caretaker who was very helpful. Loved the fact there was no WiFi TV or phone service, we could really switch off. Be prepared for isolation and awkward bath position, difficult for people with stiff joints to get in or out. But location and getting away from it all we’re handsomely delivered.

Lovely cottage on large remote estate away from busy-ness of life. Just missing a few touches, some quite basic , to make it v highly recommended. You need to take a washing up cloth , have to take electric readings and pay accordingly and remember to take your own towels. It’s 10 miles to the nearest shop if you forget.

Tinkerbelle is a delightful, quirky cottage set in the most beautiful and peaceful countryside. No phone signal, tv reception or WiFi to interrupt your day which was perfect for us! There are no local amenities, the nearest shop is 10 miles away, but if you know that before you go you can work round that :-) We will be returning in the future.

Tinkerbell was a delightful little cottage for a week away from the hectic travails of a COVID filled world. The Balnaboth estate is beautiful, and the autumnal colours added an additional little magical element. The cottage itself is small but well appointed; with a kitchen big enough for two to cook together comfortably and a cosy living room area (made cosier still when you get the wood burner going), as well as a nice big bedroom upstairs. There were only two negatives we found: first, the kitchen equipment was very dirty when we arrived - all pots/pans needed a very thorough cleaning to be usable; second, the bath/shower was almost impossible to balance the water temperature on. Other than those two small drawbacks though it was a lovely cottage and a lovely week. Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

What a truly wonderful place Tinkerbell Cottage is. The information provided told me that there was no phone signal,no WiFi and no t.v and there wasn't and it was fantastic. Just what we needed. There are no shops even remotely close but again,we were told this,so it didn't catch us out. The walks around the cottage are lovely and we could have stayed on the estate for the whole week but went to Balmoral and Glams and found some of the water falls that were in the very good information pack in the cottage. I have no problem paying for the electricity as, yet again,I was told before hand. I can't recommend Tinkerbell Cottage enough. It's a wonderful, fantastic, beautiful place snd I will be booking again. Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo
