"This was a short stay for us and served as a base as we explored the surrounding coastline in Sardinia. The township is small, but has facilities (although limited and some do not open daily)."

About this house rental

The former pharmacist House offers modern and comfortable amenities and cozy ambience in the middle of the small and traditional village of Mili. The large, light-flooded rooms were renovated in 2009 and tastefully and simply furnished. The house is ideal as a holiday in any season for 6 persons. The house has a well equipped kitchen with large dining table. The semi-professional gas stove and oven (either gas or electric operation) invite you to cook, the dishwasher avoids the subsequent washing dishes. Directly to the kitchen closes at the small but cozy courtyard. In the warmer months you can already enjoy the breakfast and evening use the grill. An awning protected from direct sunlight and a hammock invites you to relax. But even in winter you can enjoy as many hours out there, because the yard is protected from all sides.

The living room: The open living room in summer has a cool retreat in the colder months, next to the fireplace and the bookcase (eg Sardinian literature: Gavino Ledda, Michela Murgia, Milena Agus), Vagas, John Irving, "The Book Thief" "Mary's does not taste it," "Super Good Days" ...) to stay. Over a wide wooden staircase leads to the second floor. The first floor bedroom with a closed window to the courtyard and a large living room towards the street with a comfortable sofa bed. This room is accessed by a wide wooden ladder into the attic, which has a double bed. The two environment (living space on the first floor and attic) communicate directly with each other, since both spaces are open. Upstairs you will find also a bright spacious bathrooms with shower, toilet (including hand-held shower) and washbasin. The place: Mili is a small, traditional, quiet village with about 1600 inhabitants. Within walking distance grocery stores, fresh water sources, the post office, ATMs, a small pizzeria, a pharmacy, a tobacconist's and bars. Fresh bread is available from Monday to Saturday over at the grocery store, on Sunday there is the pastry croissant at the corner. Especially in the summer in the nearby small outdoor theater festival, held with Sardinian music and dance. Meet in early August each year, many groups from around the world to participate in the traditional costume and dance festival in Milis. Otherwise, Mili is known for its particularly good citrus fruit. Originally, the town lived on trade with fruits. As we cultivate an orange grove, you can expect from a visit to our house from mid-October to mid-March, a basket full of ripe oranges. Otherwise, you will find a little solace from a sample of our orange marmalade, the environment and recreation: Mili is very central and we have every day new possibilities for the day program. Whether it is one of the many and varied beaches to visit in the surrounding area (15 minutes by car to a card with the most beautiful beaches can be found in the house when you arrive) or visiting an archaeological site, such as "Santa Cristina" ( 10 minutes by car), "Losa Nuraghe" (15 minutes, and each comes to Sardinia must have seen at least one Nuraghe) or "Tharros" (30 minutes). Hiking, biking, horseback riding, surfing, diving, golf, etc. you can also very well in the area. Anyone interested in handmade things, should take the opportunity to visit one potters, stonemasons, or knife maker. On Carnival Sunday and Tuesday will be held in the famous Sartiglia Oristano, traditionally costumed riders on the ride to the honor and delight you with acrobatics on galloping horses, the crowd.

We truly enjoyed our visit to Milis, and our stay in Christine's home was perfect for the two of us. Milis is a lovely, friendly community, welcoming in all ways. The home is well-equipped and communication was great. Five stars all around!

This lovely home is a few steps from a fabulous pizzeria, cafe-bar, and several shops that sell fresh pasta, pastries, and bread. The people of Milis are wonderful and the nearby beaches are glorious. It is a roughly 30 minute drive to the beaches, but the trip takes you through handsome farmland and is a pleasure. My husband and I had a lovely time and are looking forward to returning soon. One thing to note is that there isn’t air conditioning and it can be very hot and muggy in the summer [>30C with 80% humidity]. But the fans keep you cool for the most part and it is a joy to spend the day on the beach and come home to such lovely amenities. The outdoor shower was fabulous!

Milis is a lovely village that’s no more than 20 mins to some amazing beaches. On our last day we found the best one to be the south end of Spiaggia Is Arruttas, crystal clear turquoise waters with its white quartz beach. The weather was so hot we didn’t do much else than stay on the beach with the onshore breeze but we did venture across to the east side one day, it took 1.5hrs through Sardinia’s mountainous vistas, stunning. We’d come back to explore in cooler climes. We also went to Bosa and the castle ruins, pretty town. The property is a lovely, airy, light and spacious place and had all we needed. The beds were comfortable too. Not sure if the house had air conditioning, we assumed not as it wasn’t obvious, we really could have done with it at night as it was so hot. What we would have found helpful was a folder with information relating to the property, ie where to find the fuse box key, if there is air con - instructions, emergency numbers etc and a village map pointing out where all the shops and amenities are. Christine was everso helpful with directions and with the odd problem that arose at the house and even more so the delightful elderly neighbours who were so so willing to help you too. This was our first visit to Sardinia (July 2018) and we’ll definitely plan to come back when it’s a cooler time of year so we can explore more of what this beautiful varied island has to offer. Thank you both for allowing us to stay in your lovely home.
