Nostalgic Retro Cottage, Blocks Away from Mississippi River. Full Fenced in Yard

We enjoyed the house, it felt whimsical and welcoming…until we encountered the hostess in the driveway as we sat in the car ready to leave. She approached my car with a look of shock and disgust on her face. No greeting. No introduction. “Check out time was at eleven,” she said disdainfully. “Yes, I know,” I said smiling, not having time to tell her that I was trying to find contact information for her online so I could let her know we had just finished cleaning the house and were leaving. She stared at me blankly. “It’s 12 o’clock.” she said, sounding horrified. “Yes, I realize that.” I told her I was aware and online at that exact moment trying to leave a review and navigate the checkout process. “You were supposed to check out an hour ago. I have a 25 Late Check Out Fee.” I told her I understood this. As we backed out of the driveway she said, “And did you have dogs on your reservation?” “Yes,” I told her. Now officially uncomfortable and having the entire glowing review I had been in the midst of writing ruined. The house is enjoyable but that final exchange felt so bad I don’t think I could get myself to come back.

We had a nice stay. Hope the dishwasher and ice maker gets fixed soon. We only stayed one night and hand washed dishes we used. Ice cubes would have been nice for our drinks.

Great place

Could have used steak knives, towel racks in bathroom, bars in bathtub. Clear instructions For television sets. Bedside table lamp in train room. Screen house could have been cleaned. But all in all nothing major.
