Punta-Umag
The Punta Umag area, where the apartment is located, is the most beautiful tourist area of Umag and has been known since Roman times. The neighborhood is peaceful and sunny, consisting of private houses adorned with well-maintained gardens full of flowers and plants, as well as a few apartment buildings. The area features two parks with children's playgrounds near the beaches, free outdoor fitness equipment along the seafront promenade, and beautiful lawns and groves. In the area, there are 3 hotels, tennis courts, numerous bars, excellent restaurants offering fish menus, the ACI marina, a gas station, and a supermarket. The neighborhood is an excellent choice for those who appreciate peace and convenience thanks to its proximity to the seafront promenade and the various beaches.
The nearby beaches vary to suit every need: sandy, rocky, pebbly, and fully equipped beaches, with the possibility of renting sun loungers and umbrellas. These beaches are unique because of their variety and the coastline surrounded by lush Mediterranean vegetation rich in evergreen shrubs, pine trees, and cypresses, providing shade during the hottest hours of the day. To find the beach you prefer, you only need to move a few hundred meters along the coast and discover how the beach landscape changes.
The center of Umag can easily be reached on foot in 10–20 minutes.
From the Katoro tourist resort, along the coast through the Punta area, a tourist train operates to the center of Umag and back.
In the center of Umag, we recommend visiting the museum, aquarium, and cathedral. A walk along the famous Umag breakwater is highly recommended, as well as exploring the narrow and fascinating streets of Umag's old town, the new square decorated with a fountain, shopping in the town center, or visiting the seaside market stalls and playground to delight the children.
For larger grocery shopping, we recommend driving a few kilometers to the larger and more affordable supermarkets such as Lidl, Spar, Kaufland, or Plodine in Umag.
There are many leisure opportunities in the Umag area: tennis courts, the 18-hole Golf Club Adriatic, equestrian centers, sports centers for water sports enthusiasts where you can enjoy water skiing, diving, boat rentals, the Jangalooz adventure park for children, and a mini-golf course near the Sol Stella Maris tourist resort, as well as nightclubs, casinos, and various boat and bus excursions.
The area is rich in renowned restaurants, casual restaurants, pizzerias, fast-food outlets, and bars. Those who wish to explore Istria will discover caves, ruins, numerous churches, museums, and impressive marinas.
For days when the beach is not an option or for evening outings, we recommend unforgettable trips inland. The picturesque artists' village of Grožnjan features a beautiful terrace offering magnificent views of the Mirna River Valley. Motovun is a typical medieval hilltop town, known for its film festival held every year at the end of July. Livade is famous for its white truffles found in the nearby forests. Astronomy enthusiasts who wish to admire the sky and stars can visit the Višnjan Astronomical Center, located 30 km from Umag, by appointment. Cave lovers should visit the small but wonderful Baredine Cave, only 15 km from Umag. Do not miss the opportunity to visit Hum, the smallest town in the world, located just 60 km from Umag. Also worth visiting are the coastal towns of Pula, Rovinj, and Poreč, as well as Brijuni National Park, which can also be visited through organized excursions.
Various boat excursions called "Fish Picnic" are organized, featuring fish or meat picnics during which you will have the opportunity to visit Rovinj, Poreč, or Novigrad. Many tourists are also interested in the wonderful day trip to Venice by hydrofoil.
For the enjoyment of children, visit the Istralandia Water Park, located 20 km from Umag, and the "Dino Park" theme park in Funtana, where fun is guaranteed for both children and adults.
For food lovers, there are various opportunities to enjoy tastings of excellent Istrian wines, cheeses, olive oil, traditional Istrian prosciutto, and much more.
The Trevitours travel agency is recommended for organized excursions, where the friendly and knowledgeable staff will be happy to advise you with great professionalism.
At Trevitours, you can also rent bicycles and boats and purchase fishing licenses.
