Charming, historic 1870’s Farmhouse on two acres. “So cute!” (Said the last guest). Enjoy the peace and quiet of country living. Yet close to all the activities the St. Joseph River community has to offer. Nestled between Buchanan & Berrien Springs, enjoy Fernwood Nature Center, River Saint Joe’s dining, wineries incl. Domaine Berrien Cellars around the corner, farmers’ markets, biking & hiking trails, boating, kayaking, bird watching, bicycling. Floating down the St. Joe river. Snow skiing or snowmobiling.The St. Joe River Miami Marina boat launch is just 7 mins away! For Beaching, it’s just a short drive to the Lake Michigan beaches. The Farm is private yet accessible! Cottage core decor. Fully equipped kitchen for the most discerning gourmet chef. Oven, dishwasher, cook top, a gas & charcoal grill, 2 different coffee makers, Keurig, and drip, and large side deck off the kitchen facing beautiful, large green space for entertaining. Outdoor fire pit for enjoying stories around the camp fire. Enjoy sitting on the front porch in your comfy rocker enjoying the sunset, or relax on the covered, side porch while grilling. If inclement weather, the covered porch is a blessing. A perfect place for a romantic getaway for just two with the primary bedroom on the first level. Or enjoy a group outing as we sleep 12 comfortably with one first floor bedroom & five upstairs bedrooms. Full bathrooms on both levels. Ask about our rates for hosting a special event such as a small wedding, party or family reunion. We have a tent available for rent and can arrange all the details with you! Handicap accessible with ramp and first floor bedroom/bathroom. Enjoy the St. Joe River for fishing, boating, canoeing, kayaking, or hiking. Canoe and kayak rentals on the Dowagiac River or St. Joseph River. There are two nature preserves within miles and two boat launches at your finger tips. It was a cute little house and when I first pulled up and went inside I thought there is a lot of potential here. However, the house is in need of little repairs, coffee maker doesn't really work, and is quite an odd layout with a bathroom and bedroom without proper doors. The kitchen is hot (no AC there) and is moderately stocked (I've seen worse but also seen better). Overall, I'd say the "little things" were lacking that help guests overlook the minor inconveniences. Not enough TP or paper towels, only 2 dish washing pods for 5 nights and 11 people, handsoap nearly gone in bathrooms, and overall felt the owner was a little chintzy (not even any laundry detergent). Definitely potential but the host needs to up her game in the little things to overcome the downsides of the property. Bottom line is we were not uncomfortable per se, but we won't be staying here again.
