About this house rental

Pleasant Memories

Tucked into one of Saugatuck's most sought-after neighborhoods, Pleasant Memories offers the rare combination of peaceful privacy and unbeatable walkability. Perched on the hill along charming Pleasant Street, the home feels surrounded by nature, with treetops and fresh air creating a serene backdrop—yet downtown Saugatuck is just a short stroll away.

In minutes, you can be wandering through art galleries, boutiques, parks, and some of the area's best restaurants and cafés. The Saugatuck Center for the Arts is only two blocks from the house, making it easy to catch a show, explore exhibits, or browse the seasonal farmers' market. Whether the plan is a relaxed weekend or a packed itinerary, everything is close enough to enjoy without sacrificing peace and quiet.

When it's time for sand and water, some of West Michigan's most beautiful beaches are just a short drive away. Oval Beach—frequently ranked among the best freshwater beaches in the country—is only about 10 minutes from the house and offers sweeping Lake Michigan views, soft sand, dunes, and unforgettable sunsets. Douglas Beach provides a quieter, more relaxed shoreline experience, while Holland State Park is an easy drive for wide beaches, iconic lighthouse views, and swimming access. Spend the day at the lake, then return home to rinse off and relax.

Inside, the home is spacious and thoughtfully designed for groups who want to spend time together while still having room to spread out. With six bedrooms across four distinct levels, the layout works beautifully for multi-family trips, friend getaways, or celebratory weekends. Every floor offers its own sense of retreat, while the shared spaces invite connection.

The heart of the home is the fully equipped kitchen, complete with stainless steel appliances, granite countertops, and a custom butcher block island—ideal for everything from casual breakfasts to full group dinners. The adjacent dining room overlooks the surrounding woods and features a one-of-a-kind, hand-painted table that adds character and charm. Just beyond, a screened porch offers a breezy, peaceful spot for morning coffee, afternoon reading, or evening conversations.

The living room is bright and inviting, filled with natural light from surrounding windows and furnished with plenty of comfortable seating. It's the perfect place to gather for movie nights, card games, or simply unwinding after a day in town. A Smart TV and a nearby collection of games make it easy to relax and recharge.

Outdoor living truly shines here. The expansive deck is ideal for group meals and evening grilling, with ample space to dine under the trees. Steps away, a private hot tub on the patio invites year-round relaxation—whether you're soaking under summer stars or warming up after a crisp fall day.

Sleeping spaces are equally flexible and memorable. The main-level suite features a king bed, Smart TV, and a full bath, while the upper level includes three additional light-filled bedrooms and a shared full bathroom. At the very top of the home, a whimsical attic loft with an under-the-sea theme offers a fun and cozy sleeping space with two daybeds and trundles. On the lower level, a private studio apartment includes its own kitchenette, living area, full bathroom, and direct access to the deck and hot tub—perfect for added privacy within the group.

Clean, comfortable, and exceptionally well-appointed, Pleasant Memories is a home designed for connection, relaxation, and making the most of everything Saugatuck has to offer. Once you arrive, it's easy to see why this is a place people return to again and again.

On the 1st night we had family ranging in age from 65 to 79 yrs old. The house was very poorly suited for them due to numerous factors (see below). For the other 6 nights there were 14 of us at the house ranging from 11 to 70 yrs old. The house layout worked very well for us. Impressions:Outside the house appeared very old with uneven cement, a broken wobbly handrail for the 5 steps you needed to go down to the front door. The roof looked aged & had moss growing on it everywhere. There was space for 4 cars not the 5 mentioned in the material. Landscaping was very poorly maintained with a feeble looking working water feature. The back deck was nice & the grill mostly worked.Inside everything looked like it needed a heavy cleaning, especially the 3 bedrooms & bathroom on the 2nd level. There’s 1 AC unit for the downstairs walkout, main and 2nd floors. It was barely able to keep each level comfortable. The window AC unit in the loft was great. There are 43 interior steps throughout the house - not conducive to older or very young people. The main floor master bath shower/tub was terribly stained & the bedroom lamps worked but were tilting & wobbly. Most mattresses were ok except the 2nd floor king which was quite lumpy. Furniture was fine. Overall this house worked for our group because of our group makeup. Location was perfect as we walked to downtown every day. Value for the money was iffy due to the previously mentioned items.

We enjoyed our stay in Saugatuck. The home was very clean and comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked with pots, etc. The walk to downtown Saugatuck was about 10 minutes.

It was a great place to stay, close to town. The only real complaint was a the hot tub had a lot of chlorine and bleached out our suits
