About this house rental

Retro Retreat: Cozy, Moderne, Affordable House in Wine Country.

3 bdrm, 2.5 bath for the price of 2 bdrm 1 bath rental!! We are offer low prices. We would rather book more nights at low rates than fewer nights at higher rates.

The Retro Retreat is a fabulous little house built in 1951 and recently updated for comfort and convenience with central heat and A/C. It is centrally located in a very quiet neighborhood just north of the town of Sonoma, with easy access to highway 12. We have an updated kitchen with new cabinets, appliances and granite counter tops.

The main living room, kitchen and dining area is open, providing an extra large space for entertaining and relaxing with family and friends. A great space for celebrating holidays, birthdays, anniversaries, or just long weekends! One entire wall of the living room, dinning and kitchen area is glass, looking out on a covered patio and large back yard. The floor plan is ideal for two couples or a family. Two bedrooms, a full and half bath are in one wing of the house, another bedroom and full bath are in the other. The living room, dining area and kitchen are in the center of the house, providing complete privacy between the two wings.

The Retro Retreat is just minutes from the Sonoma Plaza (2.4 miles) for shopping and dining experiences, and within walking distance of the world famous Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa. In just a few minutes, heading North on highway 12, you will visit dozens of the best wineries California has to offer.

If you want to stay in after a day of wine tasting, dinner is a snap with provisions from Whole Foods or Sonoma Market. In addition to the new kitchen, there is a BBQ, dining table, chairs and lounge seating on the covered patio. Plus, staying at the Retro Retreat is a great way to save your $$, so you can splurge all that much more on Sonoma’s fine wines and dinning.
When you book with us, let us know if you like red or white, so we can greet you with a bottle of one of our favorite Sonoma wines.

We really enjoyed our stay at this property. Everything was just as expected, and it made for a great home base for our trip. The location was perfect—right between Napa and Sonoma—so it was easy for us to explore both areas without any hassle. The hosts were very communicative, and we appreciated how quickly they responded to our messages. That made the whole experience feel easy and well taken care of.A couple of small notes: the water pressure in the smaller bathroom’s shower was pretty weak, though the pressure in the larger bathroom was excellent. The hot water also didn’t get quite as hot as we would’ve liked. Nothing that ruined the stay, just worth mentioning.Overall, we had a great time and would happily stay here again.

Overall was a good stay. Place was primarily clean, though there were a few mold spots in showers. Showers had terrible water pressure, and one of the bathroom sinks had a slow/backed up drain.

This home is in a perfect location for morning walks. It is centrally located in the wine country. The house and yard are lovely. The kitchen has every dish, spice and pan you could want. The best feature is the home was easy for my elderly mother to get in and out of and move around in. She was able to move about the whole house with her walker.

While I must agree that the listing was accurate, check-in was easy, communication was fine, and photos were generally representative of the property, I can't rate this property highly for several reasons, and I'm a bit surprised by the consistently glowing reviews.Of primary importance to me is cleanliness and comfort. All of the guests found the beds to be quite uncomfortable, with very firm mattresses and thin pillows, as noted by several other reviewers. Living room furniture was okay, but not great. Additionally, the quality of the furnishings throughout was generally old and worn. Cleanliness was a bit of a miss too, with obvious black mold in and around the shower I used, and air vents very dirty. The sink in one bathroom barely drains. That is not to say there weren't good things about this property. Although we didn't prepare meals, the kitchen appeared to be well stocked and clean. The location of the property was central to Sonoma destinations. The price of the rental was notably less than other properties of comparable size and occupancy. Parking was workable, if not ideal. If you're looking for a bargain in Sonoma, don't mind appearances, and are flexible on comfort and finer points of cleanliness, this may be an option to consider.Photos attached so issues with cleaning can be addressed.
