Having done a few family & friends villa holidays now, I can say that this was one of the best villas we stayed in. Spotlessly clean and every room has a good sized, comfortable bed with an en-suite. Nobody had "the rubbish room" and a decent sized table that we could all fit around. WiFi worked throughout (unfortunately 1 of us still needed to do a bit of work).
The pool, garden & bbq area were great to spend time together. We spent lots of time splashing around, eating, drinking, playing cards and enjoying the very beautiful & tranquil settings. This felt very authentic Portugal.
We flew into Porto and hired a car, only about an hours drive and you could easily fit 2 or 3 cars on the drive. We often shopped at the intermarche in amarante - it has everything you need for a big family shop (& great produce) and the villa has a baker that can drop off fresh bread rolls & croissants every morning.
We took a few days out to explore the area, 1 day in Porto, 1 day at the Douro Valley on a river boat, fantastic wine tasting and lunch as well as a nearby vineyard for a another tour, tasting and lunch.
The owners stopped by to welcome us and were available on WhatsApp for anything we needed - which we didn't really, but nice to know they are there. We booked this holiday before the global pandemic but we needed not worry, everything was spotless, the villa and everywhere we went had hand sanitiser, plus it felt quite remote (not touristy) and it was well worth the 2 week quarantine!
