You are only steps away from cafés, pubs and shops which are dotted along this road, which leads directly into the heart of bustling Scarborough, with a busy high street and shopping mall as well as a casino. Both beaches can be reached in less than ten minutes. The North Bay is the most peaceful of the two bays in Scarborough, stretching from the castle to the Sea Life Centre, where you can see rescued seals being rehabilitated as well as tanks filled with fish from around the world. The South Bay is a traditional seaside resort with donkey rides, amusements, the pier, plenty of good restaurants and bars as well as traditional fish and chip shops. The coastal destinations of Filey, Flamborough Head and Bridlington are to the south and to the north is the resort of Whitby and quaint Robin Hoods Bay. Parts of both beaches are dog friendly and most pubs and a lot of cafés here welcome dogs, there are also some fabulous walking trails to explore, such as the Cleveland Way along the coast, or the Cinder Track, as well as the nearby North York Moors National Park which has moorland and forests laced with walking trails.

The RSPB bird sanctuary at Bempton is a short drive where you can watch the comical puffins perched on the cliffs. The medieval city of York is an hour away or there is a direct train from Scarborough. If you prefer to drive, there is a park and ride facility once you reach the city. York is often voted in the top 10 cities to visit in the UK, with its impressive cathedral and cobbled medieval streets. Beach ½ mile. Pub and restaurant 65 yards.
