We enjoyed our time in Duck. Our group included 6 adults, aged 20-87. When we got to the house, cleaners pulled in behind us to “ re-clean” the bedrooms. We noticed many hairs throughout the house after they left. The baseboards all could use a thorough cleaning. The pool area, surrounded by sand and dirt, was constantly dirty. We never could get all the sand out of the pool. We had a big storm on Monday that blew a ton of sand and dirt into the pool and asked the maintenance team to come out to fix the problem. They told us they would be out on Wednesday or Thursday. When we complained, they did send someone out on Tuesday. The pool guy was great and he said that until someone surrounds the pool with a solid surface they will always have dirt in that pool. Check out was easy

We had a wonderful stay with our two young children for spring break. The house has been recently updated with high-quality finishes and furnishings, and a lot of thought has been put into the guest experience - labels on switches, a well-stocked kitchen, instructions on appliances, etc. The location is perfect - close to everything in Duck and Sanderling, but surprisingly quiet. A March OBX visit is always a gamble with the weather, but the hot tub and the beautiful sound views from inside the house really took the edge off the cold, windy weather. We ran into one maintenance issue and were impressed that the owner provided a direct point of contact and was very responsive, as was Beach Realty. This house was a great find!

A few things I’d like to mention. This house is on the sound side of duck, you can’t really walk anywhere. Which is fine. You have a hot tub, a pool, a beautiful sound view, etc. We had the most amazing sunsets. The house itself really needs some maintenance. There is black mold in the upstairs bathroom, and the master bedroom. There is also black mold in the living room by the door. I understand it’s the beach, but I don’t expect to be in a space that just sold during the summer, that clearly hasn’t been even visited by the buyers. There are so many decks! That you aren’t able to enjoy because they all are covered in spiders, spider webs, cob webs, moths, you name it. Inside is updated which is truly the only good part besides the view. If it’s too windy (35mph) the entire house shakes, fine. But it doesn’t stop shaking. The beds, the toilets, the couch, everything shakes with it. Also to note: - the trash cans were filled with brush when we tried to put our trash in them, the one singular trash bag we had was hanging out. - There is BLACK mold. Be careful! - There is no railing to the sound side deck going on the water, and it’s not the best quality. BE CAREFUL! We rent a house twice a year in the outer banks, from corolla to hatteras, I don’t think we will be back to this one.
