About this villa rental

Villa Agnes is situated in the center of historical town Orebić, only 3 meters from the sea, in the series of famous „captain houses“. Villa is over 100 years' old house, it was built in 1912th year in artistic style „jugendstile“. The first founders were successful winemakers. Their wines and sparkling wines were favored at the ships of The Austro-Hungarian Navy in that period. This villa provides a breathtaking view of the sea and islands on the south and opposite a dramatic view of the Mount St. Elijah on the north. Courtyard surrounded by a high stone wall provides the necessary privacy and protection of views in order to enjoy the outdoor terraces.
If you want to swim should just get out of the yard and you are already on the nearby beach, or walk to the nearby small docks or you will take a swim in the private swimming pool in the front yard.
The combination of sea, Mediterranean herbs and gracefulness of the villa and its authentic historical style offers an unforgettable vacation pleasure. By staying in this historic villa one can revive the spirit of the past.
Villa was completely renovated 2014th year with special attention to the preservation of its historical authenticity in the exterior and interior.
Villa of usable area of 240 m2 is ideal for 9 people. It consists of three floors. The ground floor has an entrance foyer, living room and spacious dining room for ten persons, all oriented to the south or to the sea. Fully equipped kitchen is oriented to the north. All rooms are interrelated and all have direct access to the exterior surfaces. Impressive vaulted bathroom is located in a former store water. There is also a separate toilet on the ground floor.
From the entrance hall on the ground floor the stone staircase lead to the first floor.
The first floor is intended for sleeping and resting in a Mediterranean ambience. In the center, there is a small and pleasant lounge that exits to a balcony decorated with stylish fence . The balcony offers a view of the perfectly blue sea and garden with palm trees and bougainvillea. On this floor, there are four bedrooms. Two bedrooms have large double beds, one room has two single beds, and the fourth room is single bedroom. All bedrooms have two windows that offer a view of the sea and partly on the mountain St. Elijah. During summer nights the flow of fresh air from the nearby mountain naturally cools the rooms upstairs, there is also air conditioning in all bedrooms. There is a shared bathroom that one enters from a small lounge area.

From the foyer on the first floor the wooden stairs leads to the attic. The attic is organized as an open space with double bed, space to relax, read and work. Children are very fond of this space.

My family and I just spent 3 weeks at Villa Agnes, and we could have stayed all Summer. As we were leaving my youngest son just sighed and said "I wish we didn't have to leave".The photos are all accurate, but I would say it's more beautiful in person. The house itself is incredibly charming. It is well appointed, with everything we needed. The kitchen is small, but one of the better equipped kitchens we've had in a short term rental. We had no issues cooking there. We're traveling all Summer, and Orebic was such a welcome oasis from some of the extremely crowded cities we've been in. It was big enough to have everything we needed, but small enough to retain its charm and avoid the crush of crowds. We could walk to the small grocery in town, and the bakery is literally right around the corner. There were plenty of restaurants within walking distance, and a great little ice cream shop around the corner. It was easy to grab a ferry over to Korcula, or get an island hopping pass to check out some of the smaller islands. We did have a car, and drove just a tiny bit farther to go to the bigger grocery store once a week (although it's technically also walking distance). There's fantastic local wines and wineries, and they had live music and wine tastings just around the corner from us on Wednesday evenings. The ocean was so beautiful, and you could swim anywhere. The pool was nice for the kids to hop in first thing in the morning, or in the evening while we were fixing dinner.

We all loved the house. It was exactly as it appeared in VRBO and the front gate opened directly to stepping into the ocean for swimming. Charmling 19th century captain's house. Completely updated baths and kitchen and close to restaurants, grocery stores and the ferry to Korcula.

I am so happy we chose this house. It was incredible from start to finish. The location was perfect for us, right across the path from the sea and so close to shops, bakeries and restaurants. We swam in the sea every day and walked to the beach further along to rent paddle boards and jet skis. I thought we would take the ferry to Korcula more often but Orebic had lots to offer. Check out the fish seller next to the supermarket (open till 12) and the wine shop there too. As for the house, it is comfortable and utterly charming - we loved the pool and the tortoises in the garden. The kitchen is small but extremely well equipped and was a pleasure to cook in, we ate at the large dining table most days with the doors open to the beautiful gardens and the sea beyond. I can't recommend this house enough and would really love to return.

The views from this house are stunning. The sea is literally across the road/lane. Well equipped house with lovely garden and barbeque at the back with outdoor table and chairs. The air conditioning was a must. Very relaxing area to sunbathe by the pool despite passersby peering through the gates because the house is so attractive. The pool is not large but perfect for cooling off.

If you're looking for a beautiful, unique and relaxing property for a getaway then this is definitely it! Villa Agnes is a former Captain's house which has been beautifully restored by its present owners, with a good mix of original and modern features, and with beautiful antique and shabby chic furniture. Just staying at the property makes you feel very special, and whilst you do get some people looking through the gate at the end of the lovely garden and pool area to take photographs, it made us realise how lucky we were to be stopping in such a special historical property. Villa Agnes is just a few metres from the pebble/rocky beach on the main promenade, so you're close to everything you need whilst having a lovely secluded and relaxing feel. The pool is an absolute godsend when it's hot and is bigger than it looks in the photos. Betina the housekeeper is very helpful and responds to any queries immediately, as did the owners during the booking process. The property has aircon in the two main (front) bedrooms and top bedroom and in the dining room. I don't think it had it in two of the bedrooms, so if I'm right that would be a nice addition in the future as I would definitely like to go back with others and aircon in every bedroom would be ideal. Orebic itself is lovely in September when the crowds have died down and is just a 15 minute ferry ride from the beautiful Korcula Island (otherwise known as the mini Dubrovnik!) , which we visited twice as it's so close. This really is the perfect place to stay and I will definitely be going back again at some point!

The beautiful old captain’s house is right by the sea and promenade. Its spacious old house, pretty garden with the lovely little pool, barbeque in the back garden, outdoor seating area and amazing views out over the island of Korcula make for a wonderful chilled place to enjoy the quiet beauty of Orebic. Thoroughly recommend the house and area to families. Thanks for having us and to Betina for helping us during our stay.

It was good to meet Marijana and Timothy and thank you for a lovely holiday in your beautiful house and garden. We very much appreciated the air conditioning at night as it was a hot week. Wi-Fi was also a bonus especially with teenagers. The pool although not big was perfectly fine, great just to keep cool and certainly enjoyed by the boys for playing and also great with a lilo and book!. Wonderful to have the sea within a few metres and we all had a daily dip. Everything was on the doorstep and although we hired a car for journey to and from airport (cheaper than a taxi) did not use it whilst there. Great to have the bakers so close, you can get there and back before the kettle boils! Wonderful atmosphere outside in the evenings and we had some lovely meals in 4 restaurants all within a 5 minute walk. We enjoyed Bettina’s happy chat each morning whilst looking after the pool, although we had no questions it was nice to have contact. One small point, we did have trouble finding the villa, although we found the road quite easily we did walk up and down for an hour between the water park and the ferry (the heat didn’t help) looking for number 2 Villa Agnes and even asked at the information centre who were no help (and you were actually next door!) The sign outside the villa is ‘Kucaza Odmor’ which we presumed was the name of the villa but now I have googled it means ‘holiday home’ which did not help at the time! We would definitely recommend this holiday and were sorry to leave but hope one day to return. Thank you.
