A former fisherman’s cottage, this Grade II listed property from 1785 has been lovingly renovated and restored in 2020. The owner has taken care to ensure that the character and features of the building remain as part of its charm and history, with wooden beams and winding staircases, yet with fitted bathrooms and a kitchen, you will find many of your home comforts. This cottage provides every guest with a warm welcome and a truly memorable, authentic Whitby experience. With the many attractions of the town just outside your front door, there is no better place to be!

It has a special place in the hearts of the many visitors who come to explore, with many guests returning year after year. Come and see for yourself what makes this place so special. Tate Hill beach, where Dracula was said to arrive in Bram Stoker’s bestselling novel, is nestled less than 100 yards away. Take a stroll along the cobbles of Church Street, lined with antiques shops, inns and tea rooms, and climb the 199 steps that take you to the abbey and St Mary’s Church, with breathtaking views over the harbour and across to Sandsend. An award-winning beach stretches for miles before your eyes, it’s perfect for a family day of fun at the seaside.

Whitby hosts many festivals throughout the year including the 60s festival and folk week, regatta week and not forgetting Goth weekends when the streets are packed with visitors from far and wide, dressed in their stunning outfits. We had the best time staying in Cobblestone cottage! It was the best location, in a vibrant part of Whitby. The accommodation was perfect for our family of six plus our two cocker spaniels. The kitchen area was perfect for family gatherings and wet dogs after many beautiful beach walks. The only issue we had was the WiFi code didn’t work and it was difficult contacting anyone to help. We are very keen to book again for next year!

Its main plus is it is right on the main drag. Obviously parking is a problem. A parking permit is provided for Westcliffe but that is for two hours max, so virtually useless. A landlord nearby was surprised that there wasn't a Whitby parking scratchcard which every property has. So the extra cost has to be factored in. As for the property - it's not luxury, but it's adequate. It is pet friendly and when we walked in there was a smell of wet dog. But you got used to it after alcohol and the passage of time. It could do with a refurb and a better standard of cleanliness and the stairs are very steep. But...the location is key. And that is great...if you can live with the rest of the stuff.
