First, turn on the gas fireplace and take a seat on your sofa, which offers a lovely view through floor-to-ceiling windows of your wraparound deck and the trees beyond. The adjacent, open-plan kitchen and dining area mean the chef of the group won’t feel left out while preparing meals. There’s a suite of gleaming stainless steel appliances, and a lovely natural-edge dining table, which doubles as prep space. When it’s time to eat, you can enjoy the same lovely view from the table. A washer/dryer and free WiFi round out this home's interior perks.
Once you’ve settled in, it's time to explore your surroundings. In the summer, nearby Donner Lake and hiking trails beckon, and in the winter, you’re surrounded by ski slopes. Truckee and Tahoe are a short drive away, and when it's time to return, you can go into full hibernation mode and get cozy.

We absolutely loved the Bear's Den. This modern mountain cabin is everything you want in comfort and style. We are a family of 3 and it was perfect.
Great interior design and quality in the amenities. Perfectly clean.
Beautiful views & easy access to freeway and the lake. We arrived at 11 pm in the middle of a snow storm and we had no issues.
Why only 4 starts - we only got the key to main door, no garage access or remote to use. This means you have to lock garage from inside, go back to the house and leave via the main door. Just a small inconvenience.
The pillows in the king were a bit old, and not great. But the bed was good and comfortable.
The linnens use are the standard Vacasa linens, which the maids did not use a fitted sheet on the mattress and used a flat sheet that was a bit small for the thick mattress.
If you are a light sleeper and light bothers you, this is not the place for you. Lots of windows, some with no screens at all, and the automatic rollers are white. Bring a facemask (I do!) the place is worth it.

The property was absolutely amazing. We had an issue with the dishwasher at check in, but management was very prompt in response to our satisfaction. There was heavy snow during our stay and the garage parking was very much appreciated!
The kitchen is stocked with items not usual in rentals, including veggie peeler, apple slicer and nonstick pans (my preferred cooking material). My favorite is the regular coffee drip maker and a Keurig machine! I brought my own Keurig pods and was a happy camper in the mornings. The bathroom has the nice hairdryer with the concentrator nozzle. It doesn't sound like a big deal, but for me, these are small things that I appreciate. I usually bring my own shampoo, but (of course) I lapsed in judgement and didn't bring enough. Fortunately, they provided small hotel size Shampoo and Conditioner in each bathroom. I was really thankful since it saved me a late night run into town.
If this place is available, you won't regret it. I would definitely return.

We rent quite a bit and this place is now one of our top rated! Very clean and beautifully decorated. Perfect for two couples or a small family. The garage parking is a huge plus in the winter. Close to Donner Lake and Sugar Bowl as well as the town of Truckee.
Top of the line appliances and some of the best cookware I have seen in a rental. Can't wait to return!
