About this villa rental
Villa Tranquila offers a lovely relaxing holiday location only a 15 minute walk from a fabulous blue flag sandy beach, a supermarket, bakery, a couple of tapas bars and family restaurant. The villa is set in pretty Mediterranean gardens with a beautiful swimming pool (approx. 9m x 5m) and a poolside terrace. Villa Tranquila has been decorated and furnished to a high standard providing a luxury holiday villa, with many comforts making it a lovely ‘home from home’.
There is a well equipped modern kitchen, a spacious open plan dining and lounge area which leads out to the garden and pool via patio doors. The 4 bedrooms each have direct access to a shower and WC.
This region of the Costa Dorada is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful and unspoilt regions of the Mediterranean coast. For beach lovers the coastline offers an abundance of stunning blue flag golden sandy beaches and quiet coves.
PORTAVENTURA, the largest themepark in Europe, Ferrari land, and water parks are within 25minutes of the villa (by car or regular train service from L'Ametlla). The magnificent city of Barcelona is approx. 90mins away.
The villa is very easily accessible with Ryan Air and Jet 2, Thomson/TUI operating flights from the UK, Ireland and Europe to Reus only 30 mins away, Castellon 1hr 15mins away. Then there is Barcelona 90 minutes away, served by a number low cost airlines, from Europe, the UK and Ireland including; Easy Jet, Ryan-air, Vueling, Norweigian, BA, Level, KLM, Swiss, Luftansa, Eurowings, Iberia, Air France etc…. Valencia and Girona airports are also only approx. 2 hours away, also offering low cost air-lines.
The pretty fishing villages of L'Ametlla de Mar and L’Ampolla are a breath of fresh air, rare gems in the Mediterranean coastline. L’Ametlla de Mar is located within a 5-10minute drive of the villa, it is a popular destination for couples and families who return year after year to soak up the atmosphere of this quaint town which has retained it’s authentic charm. L’Ametlla de Mar offers a good selection of shops, bars and restaurants. An ideal location for a relaxing drink in the sunshine, or on a warm evening in one of the tapas bars, traditional fish restaurants, or international restaurants on the port, where you can watch the catch of the day being reeled in.
There are many other fabulous harbour towns and mountain villages steeped in culture and tradition nearby. A little further a field you will find the historic cities of Reus, birthplace of Gaudi, and Tarragona with it’s beautiful Roman Amphitheatre. Then not forgetting the magnificent city, of Barcelona where the influence of Gaudi has made Barcelona one of the most impressive cities in the world.
For a relaxing day out, the Ebro Delta nature reserve is within a 25minute drive and is truly stunning, it is world renowned for the rare species of wildlife and birds. The beaches are incredible, the sand dunes were used as the setting in the film 'Sahara' starring Penelope Cruz and several music videos. There are also lots of routes to take up into the picturesque mountains, where you will find lots of pretty mountain villages and views that will take your breath away.
Golf: There are 4 golf courses within 30minutes drive of this area.

Great pool maintained while we were there, so great standard of cleanliness.
Air conditioning was a god send.
Great size for 8 people. Loved the out door dining.
Down side had to drive to get anywhere lively, and eating out mostly started at 8pm.

Villa Tranquila was a delight, it was just as described and photographed. The garden was completely private and the swimming pool was lovely. We were their with our son and grandchildren. The was plenty of space for all of us. We enjoyed the chairs and sunloungers in the garden. The furnishings were good quality, the showers in the bedrooms fabulous, it meant we were all able to have a private “bathrooms”. We loved the local area and would definitely recommend the villa for people looking for a quiet family holiday, easy walking distance to the beautiful beach called Calaforn, where we sat late into the evening enjoying drinks at the beach bar. And the area we would also recommend for people who would like to see the traditional Spain, whilst having Portaventura, Ferrari land and waterparks closeby. You will need to hire a car to make the most of your holiday.

Previous reviews were glowing, so very disappointed.... Bed configuration on booking was 2 queen beds, 1 double and 2 singles but the queen beds were doubles. Beds linen is polyester (very cheap quality) and hot. Air conditioning is not satisfactory for cooling upstairs bedrooms. Fly screen in one upstairs room had large hole so mosquitoes got in when window left open. One upstairs bedroom had small balcony and door - nice but you can't leave door open at night due to mosquitoes (and when windy) so room is stuffy.
While there are 3 bathrooms the best is downstairs - upstairs shared toilet is very very tiny and main bedroom shower needs to be hand held.
Downstairs living area is nice but a bit dark. Some board games would have been a nice touch, as would have hand soap and hand towel in downstairs toilet. Surprisingly only extras provided were salt, sugar, a bit of vinegar and some washing liquid. We happily left for next guests (hopefully not removed on cleaning) extra toilet paper, oil, tea, coffee, pepper and a few other items.
On the positive, we were most appreciative of the gift package provided by the rental company, especially as we arrived on Sunday (check-in at 4pm and not before) when local shops close at 2pm.
Kitchen is nice - thought took a while to get the cooktop to work (some instructions would be useful). Unfortunately there was a bad fishy smell in fridge when we arrived, which took a bit of cleaning to remove.
Pool is well maintained and outside area is great. Walking distance to beach was indicated as 15 minutes... Closer to 30 as we never found the walking track- recommend driving to beach for personal safety.
Unfortunately wouldn't recommend thus property for a group of adults. Price point is high for quality and features.
