About this cottage rental
The Farmhouse has beautiful south-facing panoramic views of Gaunt Bay on the Moon River. The interior of this historic property has been transformed into a modern farmhouse cottage retreat. The property has beautiful granite steps that lead you down to the first level with a fire pit and a hot tub overlooking the bay, then continue down to the spacious dock perfect for entertaining friends and family. Lots of green space for games.
The property includes approximately 240' of shoreline with expansive views over Moon River's largest bay. You enter the water through a soft sandy shoreline. After a full day of sunshine, relax on the spacious cottage's wrap-around porch, which has comfortable seating and a dining area.
This two-story farmhouse-style cottage provides remarkably spacious and comfortable accommodations for families or groups. The main level has a full-size kitchen, living room, large TV with satellite, dining space with views of the lake, primary bedroom with a desk/monitor and 3-piece ensuite, powder room and laundry. Upstairs are three spacious bedrooms with beautiful lake views and a second washroom. The cottage comfortably sleeps up to 10 people in the four bedrooms. Bedding in each room includes 1 king, 1 queen, 1 queen and a room with two sets of bunk beds.

· 1,000 sq ft deck (wrap around the cottage and down by the water) with sunny south-facing exposure.
· Sand entrance into the water next to the dock
· Kayaks, canoes, and a paddleboat
· BBQ and two sets of outdoor dining tables
· Deep-water dock for full-size motorboats
· 12 Muskoka Chairs, along with lots of other seating and lounging
· Outdoor dining table with chairs (in addition to outdoor picnic table)
The Water
Moon River is often referred to as Muskoka's best-kept secret and is one of the longest open bodies of water in Muskoka. It has unique, isolated bays guarded by the surrounding Canadian Shield, perfect for cliff jumping. The Moon River survives in pristine condition, with incredibly low pH levels and in a class of its own in terms of cleanliness and water clarity.

The Farmhouse is nestled along the shores of Gaunt Bay off Lake Muskoka. The Cranberry Capital of Ontario (Bala) is only 5 minutes away! The quaint town is home to The Cranberry Festival, The Key to Bala, and the local favorite, Dons Bakery. A few minutes away is Muskoka Lake Farm and Winery. Another 15 minutes will take you to the hub of Muskoka (Port Carling), where you can shop and dine to your heart's content.

My family and I were in awe of the beauty and care of this historic home. All the comforts of modern day but still keeping the history of the home intact. You can see the love of the property these homeowners possess and want to ensure you love it as much as they do. Lots of water activities for the kids but also a pedal boat that my 86 yr old Grandma could get in to enjoy the water. The host was great with communication in all areas. Would go back in a heartbeat….

We had a fantastic week and enthusiastically recommend this rental.
The property is large, private and is perched on top of a hill overlooking Moon River. The views are stunning, both in the daylight and at night, when the moonlight makes the waters shimmer. Whomever restored the property spared no expense, especially the landscaping. The landscape is beautifully manicured and is perfect for a families with kids.
The farmhouse is 120 years old, but was very carefully and stylishly restored. E.g., the kitchen is light-filled and has 20-foot vaulted ceilings. We especially liked that not everything was completely modernized. The furniture is a blend of old and new. The kitchen table is old and rustic, while the living room couch is modern, chic and comfortable. On rainy days, we especially enjoyed the inventory of board games and the television station.
The host really went out of her way to maximize comfort and ease during our stay. The property is especially well-resourced. There are many pieces of outdoor equipment to keep the family entertained (e.g., hot tub, kayaks, lily pad and corn hole, among others). But beyond the inventory of ‘toys’, the interior of the property is especially well-resourced. We really got the sense that we were staying at someone’s cottage—a cottage used by the owners—rather than a rental property.
Parts of Muskoka look a tad swampy. Moon River is not like that. The water was warm and seemingly clean.
We had a wonderful week.

The farm is absolutely gorgeous, and maintained at the highest level. The pictures and descriptions are 100% accurate, and the place looks even better in real life. The cottage has a perfect south facing dock, and huge spaces to enjoy.
You won’t need anything else other than food, Wendy’s place is perfectly equipped and you’ll find anything you’ll ever need, from board games to Nespresso pods and beach towels.
It is arguably a little more expensive compared to other places around, but the place is worth every single penny.
Wendy is the perfect host and I hope you’ll enjoy stay 🙏

This charming four seasons lake front cottage blew away our expectations! It was absolutely beautiful and extremely well kept. The cottage has everything you would ever need and we were continuously impressed with all the items they had available for us to use.
The property is stunning, clean, and we were very comfortable for a group of 9.
Wendy was a fantastic host, quick to respond and ensure we had what we needed.
I can't wait to come back. 10/10!
