Perfectly suited to larger groups or families, this 5BR gem combines one of our very finest 3BR oceanfront residences, Hokulani 551, with one of our very finest 2BR oceanview suites, Hokulani 549, located directly next door.
The generous combined 3300 sq ft of interior living area provides ample room for family and friends to gather and reconnect. The 835 sq ft of combined lanai space offers more room to soak up the gorgeous Maui outdoors and take in the direct ocean views. The oceanfront lanai has its own built-in Viking BBQ grill.
We support every meal as an experience with fully modern kitchens in each residence. The kitchens are well-equipped with stainless steel appliances, granite counters, a Vitamix blender, and all the necessary cookware. There is no corkage fee on your lanai, and the built-in professional wine cooler in the 3BR keeps your selections at the perfect temperature.
The three primary bedrooms feature sumptuous king-size beds, one guest bedroom has a king-size bed, and the other has a queen-size bed and a twin-size bed. For added flexibility, the guest bedroom's king-size bed can be split into two XL twin-size beds at no charge. For additional sleeping capacity, each residence has a queen-size convertible sofa sleeper in the living room, bringing the total combined sleeping capacity to 15.
The four lavish baths feature double granite vanities, soaking tubs, and glass walk-in showers to prepare for the day's adventures or relax in the evening with a good book. The fifth bathroom features a glass-and-travertine walk-in shower and a granite vanity.
Take pleasure in spending your days at the resort’s three-acre aquatic playground. With four separate swimming pools, a waterslide, waterfalls, fountains, and four hot tubs, there will be no shortage of options for you and your loved ones to enjoy.
When it is time for a bite to eat, Honua Kai is home to the popular Duke’s Beach House, which serves breakfast, lunch, dinner, and cocktails. Duke’s specializes in serving up Hawaiian-inspired cuisine using locally sourced ingredients and freshly caught seafood. Should you wish to enjoy a refreshment by the water, poolside service is available. For coffee, sandwiches, and other grab-and-go items, including beach gear and souvenirs, visit the Whalers General Store conveniently located in the Konea Tower lobby.

If you wish to avoid excessive baggage fees from the airlines, consider packing lighter and utilizing the washer and dryer in the residence. Everyone in our large family group (two grandparents, five adult children (our boys and two spouses), and three grandchildren (ages 2, 3, and 6) loved the units, the resort, and the area. The units are very clean and very spacious. The larger unit has a great view of the ocean and the resort grounds. You can and will enjoy sunset from the lanai. There is a large, well-stocked kitchen and a good outdoor grill. All the appliances are top of the line. The resort has excellent pools for young children (a daughter-in-law who walks a great deal reports she saw nothing as good within two miles in both directions). The beaches are great for young children. The snorkeling was good. Many fish, some nice coral, and easy entry and exit points even at low tide (if you pick your spot carefully). Some in our group thought Dukes (the restaurant) being on premises was a huge plus (I prefer to cook). The management company was very responsive when there were issues. The small problems were quickly dealt with (I believe within an hour each time). Bottom line, this was well worth the price. Everyone wants to go back next year.The few negatives are small. The one nearby elevator can get crowded at peak times. The units are in the middle, right above the three pools, so you see and hear families enjoying themselves (don't expect peace and quiet). The chairs with shade are quickly grabbed around the pools.

The resort was great!! The rooms were wonderful and fit our needs. We had 2 units next to eachother.
Downside... the dryers were aweful!!! They would not dry clothing- despite only putting 3 towels in at a time! So plan accordingly!!! They will replenish towels for you one time, but after that- you are on your own- which is fine- cause we did not mind doing laundry. But when the dryers won't work, it can put a kink in things!
Maui resort management was very responsive though. They would send maintenance up if needed, but the dryers weren't addressed until the end of our visit- so it was a mute point at that time.
Otherwise- I would highly recommend this resort! Duke's- the onsite restaurant- was great! The boardwalks along the oceanfront were great. We could walk to the village shops that were past the resort where some shopping and restaurants were also. and it was only @ a 7-10 minute drive to Lahaina.

This was a great place to stay for our family. Lots of room and beautiful views. Well stocked kitchen and comfortable beds. The resort was nice and the rooms were close together.
