About this apartment rental
Tropical Resort - probably the quietest place in the tourist town of Santa Maria.
Much of the accommodation in the main town is in a busy area with cafes, bars, restaurants, traffic, dogs and noise. This is great for a night out. However, we chose to purchase this apartment in the most peaceful location, but that is still close to the town and beach. Tropical Resort is a high-quality development and is just 300m from the lovely sandy Santa Maria beach, on the island of Sal.
Inside the apartment…
The apartment accommodates up to 5 people and includes one king size double bedroom, 1 twin bedroom, a double sofa bed in the living room (more suitable for one person), a dining table that seats 6 people, kitchen, bathroom with Italian tiles and modern sanitary fitments, (including shower, toilet and bidet), and an outside terrace with table and chairs. The kitchen includes the essentials for cooking including a refrigerator/freezer, hob, microwave, kettle, coffee maker, toaster, utensils, crockery and cutlery. The living area is comfortable and well equipped with sofa, coffee table and television. There are ceiling fans in all rooms. The apartment faces southeast so it is possible to sit on the terrace in the mornings and enjoy a sunny breakfast.
We have installed air-con in the bedrooms and living room. To help cover costs we offer this to our guests at €5 per night.
Outside the house…
There is a private terrace overlooking the shared gardens and pool. The shared areas include a tropical garden, a large free-form swimming pool and outdoor shower. There are sun loungers on both sun terraces and shaded terraces. There are bars, restaurants and two small supermarkets just 2 minutes walk away. The beach and sea is just 3 minutes walk away and the town 10 minutes, where there are lots of shops, bars and restaurants.
It is located close to the centre of the 8km sandy Santa Maria beach. This beach is known for surfing. To the east, about a 25 minute walk, there is a Kite Beach, together with a wild stretch of untouched wilderness, where you can enjoy a coffee in the restaurant, kite surf, or paddle with the harmless lemon sharks if you walk a little further.
Your stay includes everything on the inventory (available on request) including bedding and house towels. Also included is laundry (of bedding & towels), electricity, gas and water. There is free WIFI available in the apartment. Please bring towels for use by the pool and on the beach.
Tourist Tax is payable by all adults over the age of 16. The cost is €2.50 per person per night to a maximum of 10 nights.

We’ve spent 4 nights in the Tropical Resort. Everything was perfect. The apartment very clean and equipped with everything. The resort it’s 5 minutes away from the beach and 10 minutes away from the center, giving a peaceful and quiet environment. We’ve had some arrival and departure problems and Roger and Philip did everything to help us.
I recommend a 100% this resort.

Brilliant first time to Cape Verde, we booked a self catering apartment so we could have the freedom to eat out at all the lovely restaurants. Whilst a short walk into town, the Tropical Resort was perfect for us, we enjoyed the beautiful pool and we enjoyed the beach which was only a 5 minute walk from the apartment. From our first enquiry till the end of the holiday the service and help provided was brilliant Thank you so much, we shall definitely be back.

we have just returned from a sun drenched week at this lovely apartment with our 4 year old and 14week old.
Everything went smoothly from start to finish with communication being exceptional from Philip and Roger from my initial enquiry, right through the duration of our stay. I was informed early on that a cot would not be available so planned to take a travel cot, however, the month prior to our stay Roger took a travel cot out to Sal with him specifically to accommodate us. This was a huge help as it meant we did not have to lug one around the airport with two kids!
The apartment was very clean and had everything we needed for our self catering stay from hair dryers to bottle openers, cheese graters to clothes airers.
The local shops are not what you would find in the U.K but with some adaptation and a little imagination you can still create some great meals.
Eating out is easy with many resteraunts and bars within walking distance.
There is nothing to do for children on the island but the gorgeous beach and the lovely pool area (which we had to ourselves on a few afternoons!) were more than enough to entertain our 4yr old for the week.
We did wander in to town where there were some lovely little shops but again, for us, it was all about the beach and pool.
November was a perfect time to visit as there were so few people around yet the weather was amazing!
We did not go on any trips as we decided it was too much with a small baby but would have liked to have done an island tour if it was just the two of us.
All in all a great, relaxing break away, even with 2 kids!
