Very cute and historically interesting property situated on a reservoir. Very pretty setting. It had a nice fire pit but unfortunately due to dry conditions there was a burn ban in place so we weren’t able to use it. Welcomed us with a bottle of red wine and cup of chocolates which was a nice and appreciated touch. Liked the Depot store where we could purchase frozen pizza, ice cream, and soda that was available on site. We were happy to purchase those items one night when we didn’t want to go back out for dinner and enjoyed a nice night in. There was a lovely trail on site that was a pleasant walk. Kayaks were available and although we didn’t use them it was nice to have the option. Bed was comfortable and the shower was nice with good water pressure. We had a lovely stay and really enjoyed the historicalaspect in addition to it being nicely and comfortably appointed. It was an altogether peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. I would highly recommend this property and the property owners who were very welcoming and helpful. Everything went smoothly and easily. I’d also recommend hiking the gorge in Treman State Park. It was much less busy than Watkins Glen but just as pretty.

I've booked quite a few trips using VRBO and the Barnstead Depot is hands down the best place we've stayed. The setting is peaceful, the depot is lovely - I even love the heron wallpaper. We arrived on a HOT summer day and the a/c was on and it was nice and cool inside. The kitchen is well equipped and even has ice cream cones in the freezer. Next we stay there I'm going to plan to come in the fall when the leaves are turning. Thanks again!

Our stay at the Barnstead Train Depot was undoubtedly one of the highlights of our East Coast holiday. We spent four peaceful nights here, soaking in the tranquility and charm of the place. From slow mornings enjoying the river view and evenings by the campfire under a canopy of stars, to making barbecue and simply unwinding, every moment felt special. A highlight for us was the kayak ride up the stream to Barnstead Central—it was an unforgettable adventure. The depot itself is a true hidden gem, lovingly restored with incredible attention to detail. It offers both character and comfort, making it a wonderful place to stay. Falling asleep to the sound of birds was such a treat. We only wish we could have stayed longer!

The Train Depot and surrounding area are so charming, the Suncook River is a beautiful place for a quiet little paddle. I really enjoyed the private dock, this was a great place for me and my husband to unwind over a long weekend in NH. The hosts are very responsive and kind. Overall great stay!
