About this villa rental
Ak Villa is a beautiful villa on Akumal Bay, and the ONLY villa on the prettiest beach in Paradise! 4,500 square feet in a Moroccan Mediterranean style with huge rooms, Moorish arched windows throughout and "Arabian Nights" decor. This villa has to be seen to be believed and a true fantasy that's come to life! Villa Ak is 20 mins to Tulum, 15 minutes from Puerto Aventuras and 30 mins to Playa del Carmen, by car!
Villa Description
The entry into this walled estate is lined with huge palms. There is a three cars covered garage and on top 2 of the 6 bedrooms are located in this detached guest house. This is a perfect place to keep the teenagers!!
When you arrive you'll walk up a sweeping curved stairway and enter through huge carved doors with stained glass windows on either side. You will immediately notice the incredible 30-foot cathedral ceiling, carved stone walls, indirect lighting and unbelievable sweeping view of Akumal Bay.
The kitchen is immense, has a domed brick ceiling, is fully equipped and has a breakfast table and it even has a wet bar that passes through to the living room! There's a great powder room and the living room couches are decked out in tiger print fabric with lots of cushions.
There are two large air-conditioned guest bedrooms downstairs with high ceilings, walk in closets, king-size beds and huge bathrooms. One of these bedrooms has a completely separate entrance, for extra privacy! You reach the immense and very dramatic master bedroom upstairs by ascending a spiral wooden staircase. The first thing you'll see is the canopied teak king-size bed in front of a carved stone wall. It has a wraparound covered balcony where you will want to spend many hours reading and enjoying the constant breeze off of Akumal Bay. The bathroom is actually three rooms: one for the toilet and bidet, one for the two basin main room and another for the double head shower stall. The decor is unique and beautiful with gorgeous tile work.
Ak Villa's fouth bedroom is located next to the main house facing the pool. Known as the PRANA BUNGALOW, for its energy flow and peacefulness, the Balinese style of this room will delight. A king size bed and extra sofa/twin bed along with the stoned walled outdoor shower will make you feel like a king. Feel the river stone floor of the outdoor shower massage your feet while under the sun, the moon and the stars.
Ak Villa is on an incredible beach and has a gorgeous "lagoon style" swimming pool with Pagoda pool house on the beach side of the villa. There's a pass-through from the kitchen for outdoor entertaining and the entire roof of the villa is an observatory for looking at the stars or watching the spectacular sunrises over Akumal Bay. The villa was designed to enjoy the constant ocean breeze so it has no air conditioning in the living area and the ceilings are so high and there are so many windows that it stays very, very cool.

The house is divided into 3 buildings in very close proximity. Four bedrooms face the pool area.
The main House has 3 bedrooms: one of those is unattached to the dining room area. Access is by the pool.
The fourth bedroom is in Prana Bungalow facing the pool as a separate smaller building with an Indoor and outdoor shower Balinese style.
The other 2 bedrooms are in the guest house with a second kitchen.
All bedrooms have king beds except for one that has a queen bed. Prana bungalow has a single bed and a king bed.
All bedrooms have AC and have ensuite full bathrooms.
Please note that Ak Villa is usually not affected by the seaweed situation because of its the position of the Bay that currents favor this spot, making a circular motion that misses this small corner of the Bay.

This is the third time we've stayed at Villa Taj Kumal. Once again, it was the perfect vacation! The house is the perfect size for the 12 of us. It is absolutely beautiful. Most of our time was spent at the pool. It is well maintained. I loved that the privacy wall has been lowered so you can look out to the ocean but yet still have privacy. The grounds keeper and housekeeping staff do a wonderful job. The rooms were cleaned daily and they were accommodating to our requests. David, the manager, was very helpful to us as well. We appreciated that there is 24hr security at the house. The location of the house is also a main attraction for us. No need to rent a car because everything we needed was within walking distance. Almost every morning we walked to Loncheria Alumalito for breakfast. I highly suggest the french toast and scrambled eggs with chorizo. La Buena Vida has a great ocean view while having dinner. The moonlight on the water was beautiful. La Cueva del Pescador has the best margaritas! I suggest the seafood soup while enjoying your margarita. Taverna Akumal is a new Italian restaurant with great food and a great atmosphere. Turtle Bay Cafe and bakery is also a great place. Lol-Ha has a great ocean view but the food is okay. Imelda's Ecocina is open for breakfast and lunch. It is tucked away so not real noticeable when you're walking around but keep looking for it! It had the best fish tacos! Next to the restaurants is a small area with local vendors if you're in the mood for shopping. If you're looking for shopping like the shops in Playa del Carmen then this is not the place for you. It was the perfect vacation for family and friends and I can't wait to go back again. I love Akumal and I wouldn't think about staying anywhere else besides the Taj Kumal.

This was our 2nd stay at the Villa Taj Kumal. As we hoped, it was as wonderful as before! The location is perfect for swimming and snorkeling right out the back door. The beach is beautiful. The pool is perfect for lounging around in the afternoon and has plenty of shaded areas for those who have had enough sun. We love being able to walk to the Lol-Ha for lunch and to Turtle Bay for breakfast or dinner. Our rental golf carts came in handy for getting to destinations a bit further away. It's the most exotic yet simple and relaxing villa we have found. Myrna and her staff are very good to work with and take care of any needs that may come up. We would recommend anyone to stay at the Villa Taj Kumal. We plan to return!
