Cocoonr is pleased to offer this very pleasant, fully air-conditioned duplex flat for rent, ideally situated in the very heart of Bordeaux, just a stone’s throw from the Saint-Pierre district, the quays and Rue Sainte-Catherine.
Situated on the 3rd floor of a stone-built building, which has been completely renovated with taste and care, Le Sweet Melody is perfect for exploring our city, whether for business or leisure.
‘Le Sweet Melody’ comprises a very pleasant living area with a lounge and dining area, a fully equipped kitchen opening onto the lounge, and a bathroom with a toilet. Upstairs, there is a lovely bedroom and a bathroom with a toilet.
Located on the 3rd floor, the accommodation is laid out as follows:
The living area
- A lovely living room with superb high ceilings, featuring a cosy seating area, a very comfortable sofa bed and a coffee table, a flat-screen TV and a high table for your meals.
- A fully equipped kitchen opening onto the living room: fridge, dishwasher, oven, induction hob, microwave, toaster, kettle, coffee maker…
The sleeping area upstairs
- A lovely, spacious attic bedroom with a queen-size bed (160x200) plus a single sofa bed.
- A bathroom with a bath, washbasin and hairdryer
For even greater comfort, the owners provide the following additional items: high-quality bed linen, towels and tea towels, as well as a few coffee capsules, tea bags, sugar, salt, pepper and olive oil.
The Sweet Melody is ideally situated in Old Bordeaux, right in the heart of all the city’s tourist attractions and points of interest.
A bit of history:
Place Sainte-Colombe: formerly a market square in the 12th century, it was renovated in 2008. Benches were installed, trees planted, and today both local residents and tourists enjoy this square as a lovely spot to take a break.
The Saint-Pierre neighbourhood is considered the cradle of Bordeaux. It is only natural that this former Gallo-Roman port, which would later become a medieval town, took its name from the patron saint of fishermen. In the 12th century, the harbour was filled in. The ramparts of the walled city were demolished in the 18th century, with the development of the Place de la Bourse. What remains is the 35-metre-high Cailhau defensive gate and a network of pedestrianised or semi-pedestrianised alleyways whose names evoke the neighbourhood’s commercial and artisanal heritage: Rue des Argentiers, Rue des Bahutiers and Rue du Chai des Farines. In the 16th century, the neighbourhood also began to be populated by middle-class families around the Church of Saint-Rémi.
Public transport:
- Tram A (’Place du Palais’ stop) 100 metres from the flat
- Trams A, C and D (’Porte de Bourgogne’ stop) 400 metres from the flat
Car:
- A car park is located beneath Place Camille-Julian, 500 metres away.
Bike-share scheme:

Sweet Melody "Fabulous location in a spacious split level apt combining new & old features.
🙂 Host / agent responded promptly to our texts to coordinate arrival time for key handoff... which was necessary, as entering this apartment building is a little tricky. She was kind and helpful, especially as there were 75 stairs inside leading up to the front door. The location is excellent, just far enough off the busy lively street, but high enough up so that it's not so noisy. Close to the water, trains and transportation. Everything within walking distance or transportation. A unique spacious abode, with comfy bed upstairs and spacious living area downstairs allowing my partner and me private areas when desired. Loved the bathtub and add'l bathroom downstairs.
🙁 Be prepared to walk up 75 stairs to top floor, and another 18 to the bedroom."

Sweet Melody "Beautiful but noisy at night
🙂 Beautiful flat, central location, friendly staff.
🙁 If you want to stay in the centre, you take into account some noise. But we didn't expect it THAT noisy until 2am. There is the very noisy bar STARFISH just round the corner with 200 or so kids drinking and shouting all night long. If the weather is not too hot you can close the windows and sleep well but we had 30 degrees and missed aircon.
The toilet upstairs didn't work, and other traces of heavy use. But overall it was a pleasant stay despite a few downsites."

🙁 Could have had a few more basics like washing up liquid and dishwashing powder. There was very little left for us."

Sweet Melody The only good thing about this apartment was the kitchen and the location. We visited Bordeuax during cold and rain and the down floor was quite hot. BUT, the upper floor has no heating at all and the temperature difference was very obvious. During our check in we were given a controller of an AC thar did not exist and even the host did not know the use of that (funny). We had stained towels (they could be clean but you cannot present this type of stain). The second day the ceiling started dripping on the side of the bed and it was soaked. So imagine the master bedroom with cold and water coming in it. They knew that there was the problem but instead of fixing it in depth before accepting guests, they just painted it with cheap material and put a drywall on a rotten wood. That was a safety matter. Overall, Bordeaux is very beautiful and you need to visit it, but I would not recommend this place to stay. At least, during winter!
