About this house rental

The Hay Barn is a detached barn on the edge of Alstonefield village . It is surrounded by fields and often the only noise is birds singing and sheep bleating . In the evening the owls can be heard and if you are lucky spotted gliding over the fields . At night we have amazing dark sky's.
Up to two medium size dogs are very welcome . We have a fenced and gated garden .
The accomodation is cosy and comfortable and comprises 2 bedrooms ,a double and a twin (the single beds can be converted to a queen size bed) a bathroom , separate toilet, kitchen and lounge . There is a log burner in the lounge for those colder evenings .The kitchen has recently been updated so boasts a new cooker , induction hob, fridge freezer and dishwasher. The views from the lounge and kitchen are fabulous. The washer is in a separate room underneath the main accomodation where there is also an extra freezer and room to leave bikes safely.
There are many ,many wonderful walks from the property taking in Mill Dale, Dovedale , Wolfscote Dale, Thors cave and the Manifold trail to name just a few local beauty spots . Popular villages within a short drive include Hartington which has local food shops, a cheese shop, gift shops, tearooms and pubs , Ilam with its National trust Hall and the cottages reminiscent of the Swiss Alps, and Tideswell with its beautiful church known as the cathedral of the peaks. The towns of Ashbourne , Buxton , Bakewell and Leek are all worth a visit and usually there is some festival or market happening in one or other of them . The well dressings happen throughout the summer in various local villages , Tissington being the closest . Stately homes nearby include Haddon Hall, Chatsworth, Sudbury and Kedleston.
There are 3 local cycle trails the tissington , high peak and Manifold trails , all have cycle hire .
For children there is the Peak Wildlife park and matlock farm park within 30 minute drive.
For thrill seekers Alton Towers is 30 minutes drive away . There is also splash landings at the Alton Towers hotels which is open to the public.
There is a go ape aerial adventure in buxton.
And after all that walking , siteseeing and adventure just sit in the private garden with a glass of wine and enjoy the peace ,quiet and views of green fields and trees . Beautiful .

Helpful and friendly advice and information before and on arrival. Tranquility and no disturbance while unwinding in beautiful countryside. We met numerous people during our trip all of whom were wonderfully friendly and all in all we look forward to going back again.
