We shared a magical night exploring and feeling pampered in our castle for the night. Host walked us through beautifully and left us to find the fun rooms and special touches throughout the castle. We had all the modern conveniences in a setting kept true to the original feel of the castle. We really felt like royalty. Food was wonderful too. Thank you Katrina for setting things up for us. I just wish I could keep this jewel a secret so we could book it again!

My husband and I had such a wonderful stay.
Katarina was so very lovely and helpful.
The castle itself is incredible. I could have spent all day just exploring inside.
A really brilliant end to my last night in Scotland and something I’ll remember for the rest of my life.
Thankyou so much again.

Our wedding weekend at Neidpath Castle was nothing short of magical. Staying in Queen Mary’s Chamber was a dream. It felt like we were transported back in time, surrounded by centuries of history, yet wrapped in total comfort and luxury. We blindly booked this venue in hopes that it would be exactly what we wanted. And let me tell you, it surpassed our wildest dreams.
The historic details of the room were beyond captivating. From the ancient stone walls and original wooden beams to the antique furnishings, every inch of the chamber told a story. The stone fireplace was absolutely beautiful and made our evenings feel cozy, romantic, and unforgettable. Sitting by the fire in such a historic space felt surreal, like sharing a moment with the past. We found ourselves sitting in awe taking in every moment of this extraordinary experience. Everything was impeccably clean, thoughtfully arranged, and tastefully preserved to maintain the charm of the castle while providing modern comfort. The breakfast hampers delivered each morning were a delight. They were full of fresh, delicious local goods that we looked forward to each day. It was the perfect way to start our mornings before wandering the castle grounds.
Exploring the castle itself was an adventure we’ll never forget. We discovered a real stone well, tucked away like something out of legend, and even descended into the original dungeon—spooky and fascinating all at once. The top floor history room was filled with captivating information, and we loved that there were two separate entrances leading up to stunning rooftop views of the surrounding hills and River Tweed. And of course, the bar room, with its cozy ambiance and quirky charm, was the perfect place to gather with loved ones—complete with the original castle toilets that had us all grinning. Every nook and cranny of Neidpath tells a story, and it was a joy to explore it all.
From the sweeping views of the River Tweed to the kind, attentive staff, every part of our experience was flawless. As an LGBTQ+ couple, we felt genuinely welcomed and celebrated, which made our time there even more meaningful. Neidpath Castle isn’t just a venue; it’s an emotional experience—timeless, soulful, and unforgettable. Sandy was a genuinely incredible host that made even this 600+ year old castle feel like our temporary home. We will never forget every wonderful moment we spent here.
Thank you for preserving such a rare and special place. We can’t wait to return and relive the magic all over again.

We stayed in the Queen Mary Chambers at Neidpath castle for our wedding. The accommodation was the perfect setting for our pre and post wedding night. The room was clean and had all the amenities we needed. It is such a romantic and beautiful setting and the bed was so comfortable. We would highly recommend staying here.

We took the bus from Edinburgh on a wet and dreary afternoon. When we arrived into Peebles and got to Neidpath, the sun was out without a cloud in the sky. I think that says more about how special our stay was than the weather in Scotland.

We spend one night at Neidpath Castle and had, what felt like an authentic experience in a Scottish castle. It’s truly special to know that we enjoyed an evening by the fire that people did the same 600 years ago.
Such a treat roaming around the castle and taking a walk by the river.
We opted for the dinner hamper, which involved some preparation by us but the meal was really great. Brought our own wine and Prosecco.
The items provided for breakfast were excellent. Croissants, fresh bread, berries and yogurt, amazing smoked salmon, juice, coffee and tea made for a great breakfast. Thank you for an amazing experience.

We stayed in the Barmkin adjacent to the castle and thoroughly enjoyed every minute. Upon arrival there was a power outage however this was swiftly dealt with by Scottish Power who installed a generator which ran faultlessly through the night until mains power was restored.
Sandy and Katarina were both very helpful and made us welcome with nothing being too much trouble.
We loved our stay at Neidpath and hope to return at some point soon.

Like most we have a budget when traveling. Yet still, I like the occasional splurge on really good accommodation. So when planning our trip to Scotland I did look at the high end hotels in Edinburgh and they were nice. But then I found Neidpath. An authentic (not Disney) castle beautifully decorated, we could have all to ourselves. Such a unique experience. I doubt you’ll find anywhere else. A lovely self catered breakfast provided for the next morning and the lovely neighbouring town of Peebles to explore as well. If you have any interest at all in history, you need to book this now.

We had a lovely romantic stay at Neidpath Castle. The staff at Neidpath Castle couldn’t have done enough for us,
Very comfortable bed & we slept quite well. The ghost didn’t bother us. We’ve stayed at castle before so I guess the ghost remembered us.

Absolutely adored staying here - we were a little worried at first with it being so old that we might have to make some accommodations but it was really exceptionally comfortable, cosy and warm. Loved every minute and it made our wedding morning extra special to wake up and sit by the fire in the sitting room. We will be back!

Our welcome was lovely, Katrina gave us the keys to the castle and showed us round, including demonstrating the quirky arrangement of light switches.
Our rooms were cosy, with a big log fire just ready to light.
We were free to explore all over the castle which was amazing. How often would you be free to roam your own castle? Many stairs!!
We opted to be served dinner by the local caterers Tweedvalley Venison. We had a stunning meal ( huge portions) served at a table in our suite. There is a tiny kitchen in the rooms where breakfast was provided and teas and coffees. We could also have used the catering kitchen.
Altogether a wonderful experience which we will always remember.

The lady welcomed us with much knowledge of the history which we loved and were in awe of.
The location and surrounds were very pretty and peaceful.
A tranquil oasis, the highlight of our Scottish Holiday.

We stayed at Neidpath for our wedding anniversary and it was so lovely to be back. We had a lot of issues during our journey which meant we arrived much later than planned and Katarina was very understanding.
We would wholeheartedly recommend staying at Neidpath for a unique experience - you have the castle to yourselves with the most beautiful surroundings. We hope to be back again!

While we were planning our first visit to Scotland, I discovered the website for Neidpath. Honestly, I had some reluctance to commit to a day and evening away from Edinburgh (we were only in the country seven days). But, in many ways our stay at Neidpath turned out to be the high point of our entire trip.
Following an easy one hour trip down from Edinburgh (You can drive or take a taxi, of course. But, we took a bus from New Town. The service is easy to navigate, runs often and gives you an opportunity to enjoy the countryside as you travel), we stopped in Peebles for lunch and then hiked along the Tweed River to the castle. (I don’t recommend this for everyone. The hike is quite pleasant. However, the castle rests on a steep hill above the river so the last bit took some effort. You can instead choose an easy walk from town along paved streets with little change in elevation).
We were greeted warmly at the door by Katarina, a member of the staff, and given a brief tour. Without overwhelming us, she managed to touch on major time periods in Neidpath’s history and its evolution over the centuries. (I urge you to read up on the castle’s history beforehand. It’s fascinating!). She also let us know critical details for our enjoyment during our stay and, upon giving us the key, wished us a good night.
Then, we were on our own…
We explored the several floors. Some, like the Queen Mary suite, are furnished to be both comfortable snd evoke a certain period of Neidpath’s history. Others, particularly the very upper floors, are in a rougher state. Either way, every inch of the place is a fascinating look into the past and shouldn’t be missed by anyone with an interest in history. We took many photos and had a wonderful time.
Later that evening we broke out the provisions we brought with us for dinner: some nice cheeses, fruit, a baguette and bottle of wine. A pretty intense rain storm came along, We lit the fire in the main sitting room. It was a good night to be safe and warm by the fire in your own castle in the Scottish countryside…
The next morning we awoke, enjoyed views of the foggy river and surrounding hills and had some of the breakfast left for us by Katarina the day before. As we were closing the castle door behind us, we happened to run into Ms. Benson. Our host’s charm, humor and friendliness (even offering us a lift into town) was a nice send-off before starting our journey back to Edinburgh.
Honestly, this was a wonderful time. If ever an opportunity to visit again comes our way, we will do so. We left wanting more time to enjoy the castle, the surrounding countryside and the nearby town of Peebles.

We enjoyed our stay immensely! It was so nice to be able to wander around the castle at our own pace exploring. Katarina who checked us in, gave us a very informative history of the castle and made sure we were all settled in. We only wish we had been able to partake in the dinner being made by a private chef but he was on holiday, maybe next time!

An unforgettable experience, to have a whole castle for yourself. We felt like children exploring the castle. The breakfast that was in store for us the next morning was absolutely lovely: Berries, fruit, muesli, yoghurt, salmon, avocado, orange juice, a wonderful bread... Everything we would have wished for!

We were fortunate enough to get married at Neidpath, and even luckier to spend two nights in its private suite. There's truly nothing like having an entire castle to yourselves. The experience was magical, and the suite was beyond stunning—equipped with everything we could have imagined and more. We’re already dreaming of the day we return for an anniversary.

Our stay was everything we hoped it would be! The castle and grounds are well cared for and the hosts were great to visit with to learn about the history and how the castle is used today. This was a core memory portion of our time in Scotland.

The pictures online don’t do this chamber justice! My now husband absolutely loves the ambience of a fireplace accompanied with a glass of whiskey. Neidpath makes sure that you have all your questions answered and even gives reading guides on how to use everything properly if you so need. We did that both nights during our stay and had a throughly stocked pantry in our room thanks to the Neidpath crew! Again, they adhere to any dietary need you may have taking the stress right off! The bedroom itself has a comfortable bed and a range of seating options for getting ready and reading. We felt super cozy in our room and the views are absolutely incredible from any point of the castle! We can’t recommend this as a wedding stay and venue enough!

Staying at Neidpath very much surpassed my expectations. It was very interesting to have the entire castle to ourselves and explore the areas, use the kitchen and retreat to our cozy space when desired. How nice to have a real fire, and we appreciated all the generous provisions for breakfast. On the day we left, they let us keep our bags there for a while and walk along the tweed while we waited for our next stay to come available. Thank you!

Walked past Neidpath Castle earlier in the year and wondered ! After some research was amazed you could stay , ,getting the whole place to yourself as a couple.
A truly unique place dripping with history , classic baronial architecture and Mary Queen of Scots storyline thrown in . Quite a magical place and your imagination runs riot staying here .
Fabulous river views from the ramparts and lovely walks on your doorstep.
We went for the catering package, with Chris and Dougie from Tweed Valley Venison providing us a sumptuous 3 course meal prepared on the premises.
We felt like we were in a fairy story and had to keep pinching ourselves that it was really happening.

I stayed for two nights, before and the night of my wedding. Everything was spotless and tidy!
It’s such a pretty place and made even better by the fact there’s a gorgeous view no matter where you are in the castle. Couldn’t fault Neidpath in any way.

We absolutely loved our night in Queen Mary’s Chamber, so comfortable sitting in the lounge with the fire roaring. Such a privilege to be able to also explore all of the inside of this wonderful castle. Also really enjoyed exploring the outside at night with the castle all light up.

We loved our 2 night stay in this beautiful bedroom and cozy living room. It was magical watching the fire burn in the fireplace. The only small problem was when we took the shower while sitting in the bath. At a certain age, it can be difficult to get up to get out of the bath...

We booked Neidpath Castle for our wedding and it was everything we hoped for and more. It is simply an incredible venue, we fell in love with the castle and we think our guests did too! Our stay in Queen Mary's Chamber was perfect; a four-poster bed, a beautiful bath and stunning views across the River Tweed. We had our own kitchenette where we could prepare our breakfast using the generous supplies left by the Neidpath team. The team are fantastic and helped make our stay so very special. Everything was perfect.

Maybe I watched too many Disney movies as a kid, or maybe it was celebrating my 20th anniversary, but I just had a strong desire to stay in a castle on our trip to Scotland. Well, my dream came true when we stayed at Neidpath Castle. We spent two very special evenings at this location and basically have not stopped talking to friends and family about it ever since! The customer service was amazing and accomodations were wonderful (and so rich with history)! The location was very easy to get to from Edinburgh and in the most idealic setting next to the river!

Staying at Neidpath castle was everything I expected and more. From the beautiful location on the river among the cherry blossoms and bluebells to the original charm that oozes from the stone spiral staircases and exposed medieval plaster we fell in love! The staff went above and beyond making everything perfect. They set up a delicious dinner with locally sourced produce and even salmon and venison caught in the local forest. We truly felt like royalty. Scotland and Neidpath have forever stolen our hearts.
