Mountaintop suite, mountain views, one level, King bed, pet friendly, accessible

Welcome to Anam Cara! Soul Friend (in Gaelic). This is the place for your soul to find peace. Our home is on a mountain ridge surrounded by forest. We look out over miles and miles of mountains and valleys. Deer, turkeys, and bears make occasional visits. Our home is a destination in itself.

This is a one level ground floor suite: one bedroom, living room, kitchen and full bath with laundry. These are all your private areas to use and are completely separate from the main house. There are beautiful views from all of the oversized windows. Outside, enjoy looking out over the top of the world and at night sit by a fire under the stars. Views are all year. Gaze out over the mountain, at eye-level with soaring hawks, vultures and eagles, and take in the silence of the sky. Sometimes we are above the clouds. Sometimes we are in the clouds! It is a different view every day.

The apartment is all one level, smooth woodgrain tile floors with no stairs from entry or inside. Enjoy the full-sized kitchen (large frig/freezer for the trout you catch), cozy king size bed and in the living room a sleeper sofa that opens to a twin if needed. A desk for writing a post card to the grandchildren or setting up your laptop has its own little nook. Many board games, puzzles, Dish network (2 TVs) and internet/WIFI are provided for rainy days. A full size kitchen has a refrigerator, dishwasher, gas stove, microwave, toaster, 3 choices of coffee makers, small blender, mixer, and a crockpot. It is fully supplied with pots, pans, dishes and basics for cooking and cleaning. The bathroom has a full shower/tub. Laundry has washer/dryer, iron and board. Linens, towels and basic soaps are included. A wood firepit with a grill top and a gas grill are provided so you can cook out at the semi-covered outdoor area. One bundle of firewood per night's stay is supplied. Extra bundles of firewood can be requested for an additional fee of $6 per bundle. Month long renter includes weekly cleaning, change of linens and towels.

Hike the roads and trails in the gated community or the adjoining Headwaters State Forest. Go fly fishing in the rivers, shopping in town, visit the art dealers, local camps (Carolina Point is very close), tube the rivers and so much more and then come back to your home away from home!

Accessibility and Safety:
This unit has separate air handling from the main house, is equipped with a carbon monoxide sensors (4), smoke detectors(2) and fire extinguishers (2). The home is protected with a security system and cameras; the community is a gated community with limited access. While not fully ADA compliant we have done all we can to make this home as accessible as possible. ADA height toilet with grab bars installed, grab bar at tub, and handheld showerhead. Doors are at least 32" except for bathroom door which is 27" and all have lever handles. At your request we can supply a bedrail (for elderly not children), bath seat, and a lift chair. If there are other needs we may be able to accommodate. Please let us know.

Pets:
We know pets are family, so 2 well behaved dogs are welcome! Let us know who you are bringing and we will prepare for them. There is a pet fee of $35

Roads:
We are easily accessible by all cars. Our driveway and patio area are gravel. Ice and snowy weather do make roads difficult; call us about road conditions if it has snowed (a major news event!)
