Casa Junto al mar en Bueu, Galicia

We loved this house, in a perfect spot. 5 minutes walk from a beautiful beach. There are some bars. One small one, very nice actually, ón the beach with chairs in the sand. where you can hire sub-boards. The garden of this house is nicer than you see in the pictures; it is very private. The view from the kitchen is beautiful. You can sit at a high table and enjoy this view. The kitchen is very complete. Nice espresso machine. We are hikers and did some nice walks along the Ria Pontevedra and Cabo Home. In 25 minutes you can walk to Bueu, which has a lot of restaurants and bars. We also enjoyed the market. We loved the traditional pan galeggo, empanadas and sweet breads from the very good traditional bakery ( 3 minutes by car, 5 by bike). The house and her surroundings gave us plenty of golden memories to take home. Thanks, Raquel, for the warm welcome, the fast communication and the cookies. We will come back to this house for sure.

The house with 3 bedrooms, two bathrooms, a garden and a nice wooden deck is located on a hill above the Ria de Pontevedra at the edge of an eucalyptus forest. You feel amidst the nature, it is very calm and quiet. There is a nice beach in 5-10 minutes walking distance. We liked that the beach was not so crowded (end of June). The town of Bueu is 5 minutes by car, there are good supermarkets (we can recommend Eroski) but of course it is also great to discover the local street market directly at the harbour and to buy fresh fish, fruit and wonderful bakery items there for reasonable prices. Also, the local museum showing the history of fishing, whaling and the conserve industry is worth a visit. You can do a lot of daytrips, e.g. to Pontevedra which has a charming old town, and of course dont miss Santiago de Compostela, about one hour by car. It was very impressive to see all the pilgrims and to attend a holy mass there. We did not have time to visit Vigo, but this seems to be also an interesting city. It was great to discover the region of Galicia with its rich history, culture and interesting regional identity, it is so different from the "mediterranean" Spain you usually get to know as a tourist.

Due to negative experiences we usually don't book apartments without any reviews - I am happy we did this time! We had an awesome vacation in this house and the region. The house is furnished with great attention to detail. Everything you need is available in sufficient quantity. A nice bakery, a butcher and several beaches are within walking distance. The communication with the host Raquel was great. She was very supportive with questions about restaurants etc.
