Matterhorn is a stunning, spacious vacation home that’s perfect for large groups or multiple families. The home offers 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms on the main level, along with 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms on the upper level.
Our office is right here in the Powderhorn area with on-site maintenance, housekeeping, and reservation staff ready to help. You’ll always have support nearby, and if you’d rather not stop in, we’re also available 24/7 by call, message, or email. Whatever works best for you, we’re here to make your stay as smooth and stress-free as possible.
Nestled in the heart of the Upper Peninsula, the Powderhorn area is a true four-season destination.
The neighborhood also offers great local spots to enjoy—grab a hearty meal at Iron Nugget, sip a coffee at Copper Cup, try out a beer at Cold Iron Brewery or try a local favorite at Pit Stop, Uptown Café, or Club 28. You’ll also find shopping, live music, and seasonal festivals nearby that bring the community to life.

We are conveniently located just off US-2 and only a few miles from Ironwood Airport, which offers daily flights through Denver Air. Whether you’re arriving by car or by air, our location makes getting here easy and stress-free, putting you close to all the area has to offer.
The main level features an open-concept kitchen, dining area, and living room. The living room is designed for relaxation, with a cozy leather sectional, a sunken seating area around a large gas fireplace, and soaring high ceilings. Patio doors from the dining area lead out to a slope-side deck with a gas grill, where you can enjoy meals and take in the mountain views. Large windows throughout the space bring in plenty of natural light, brightening the entire home.
Additional features include a 4-person whirlpool, a sauna, and a spacious heated entry/boot room, perfect for warming up after a day on the slopes. Wi-Fi is available throughout the home for your convenience, with access to a Smart TV with over 25 channels and streaming services.
Matterhorn is located along the Shotgun Trail, offering easy access to Lifts #8 and #9, making it a perfect base for skiing and snowboarding. Cable TV is also provided for your entertainment.

For the past nineteen years our family has enjoyed a fall weekend getaway. For the past for years we have stayed at the Matterhorn Chalet. There are fourteen of us aging from 8 to 75 and this is a perfect fit for our group. It isn’t fancy but is a comfortable place for our four night stay. We make good use of the many beds and bathrooms. The living room is very big and the dining table plus the stools at the counter seats the entire family. The area is beautiful and there are endless opportunities for hiking and many great beaches to enjoy. We highly recommend and hope to return again next year.

We loved our stay. This is the second time we stayed there. But as much as we love it, we have been disappointed that we were not able to ski in ski out either year. So sadly. We are booking a different place next year.. if this place does not work out. We will be back . Our only complaint is that the whirlpool tub and the floor are showing their age. Last year it was not very clean so we brought cleaning supplies this year . Also, there was no dishwasher soap .
Other than that....we loved it there.

We had a wonderful weekend at Matterhorn. This is the perfect setup for our 18th annual fall family trip. There is a bed for everyone and each family has their own bathroom. The kitchen is great for our family to cook and enjoy delicious meals with enough seating for the entire group. The living area has plenty of seating and the children have room for playing games. This year the weather was perfect for the kids to have fun running around outside. We love this property however it is beginning to show signs of heavy use. Some of the drains were running very slow, there are water spots on the kitchen ceiling, the cupboard doors are getting a little loose, the carpet is stained but this really didn’t impact our fun. I bet that we will be back again next year and maybe if we are lucky the place will be spruced up a little bit.

Place was decent other than the mouse we found dead in the kitchen sink on the morning we left and the pee stained bunk bed mattress
