About this apartment rental
Exceptionally retro and vintage in the heart of the Old Port, fully equipped (reversible air conditioning, Wi-Fi), cozy living room with a sleeper sofa, kitchen, beautiful bedroom, and shower; just a 2-minute boat ride from Frioul Island and the Château d’If; from the small bar in the living room, you can cook in a cozy atmosphere with a breathtaking view of the Old Port rooftops; just a stone’s throw away: theater, Quai du Rire, jazz pub, opera, and international cuisine; includes an office area.
The accommodation
An exceptionally authentic, retro-vintage apartment, fully equipped (reversible air conditioning, Wi-Fi, a comfortable home office, living room with a cozy sitting area featuring a sofa bed, traditional kitchen, beautiful bedroom, and shower room). The entire apartment still features all the elements that the old Marseillais used to incorporate, from Salerno terracotta tiles to the Cassis stone sink, typical of the Calanques (which you can visit by taking the boat just two minutes from the apartment; the same trip takes you to Frioul Island or the Château d’If). Not only can you cook and dine there in a cozy atmosphere with a breathtaking view of the rooftops of the Old Port, but just a stone’s throw away—without needing a car—you can enjoy the full richness of Marseille’s cultural life (a 5-minute walk away: the theater, the Quai du Rire, jazz bars, the opera, and restaurants serving cuisines from around the world, including Marseille’s most traditional dishes such as bouillabaisse, etc.). If you ever need to work, you can easily do so in the office area.

The appartement is in a historicaly interesting building, and has all necessary amenities for a pleasant stay. There is no elevator, and it is on the 5th floor, so you have to be in shape. We were happy to stay there.
We used the Charles the Gaule parking nearby, and this proved to be safe and clean.

I had a wonderful stay at Val's apartment. Check in and out instructions were easy to follow. The apartment is a nice quiet respite from the excitement of the city below. Walking distance to the central cultural hub of Marseille.
For anyone not from France, know that the shower is the epitome of a small French shower.

The location is fantastic! The apartment offers everything you need for a stay to be mostly comfortable. I would recommend bringing your own adapters for outlets and a speaker if you want to play music. Valerie, the hostess, os super nice and responds right away to messages. The views from the windows are perfectly quaint and enjoyable day and night. This little spot is perfect for 1 or 2 people, but not more.

This apartment is in a great location , one street back from the Vieux Port . It's located amongst a number of restaurants and bars (including a few "British" pubs - and all the very late night noise associated with them)
Valerie is an excellent host being easy to communicate with and helpful over check in time etc.
The apartment itself is , as per the description, very retro and being (I suspect) Valerie's home , full of interesting items. It is all open plan with no doors between each of the areas. There is a bedroom area with a double bed and an (apparently) very comfortable bed settee in the living area
However it is on the top floor and has over 120 steps to reach the apartment. There is no lift (too be expected) but in the heat (35 degrees when we were there) and with luggage you need to bear this in mind. Also, whilst there are air conditioning units, these struggled during our stay (again it was exceptionally hot) and as there are no dividing doors, need to cool the whole apartment. Also as someone else mentioned it is a very small shower cubicle with exceptionally hot water (so be careful)
Overall it suited our needs and was very reasonably priced for central Marseille . I'm happy to recommend it (subject to the comments above which are not criticisms of Valerie's apartment, merely consequences of it being a traditional apartment)
