About this house rental
You are more than welcome to experience the Greek hospitality in our recently renovated old town cosy apartment.
It is situated in the heart of the historical centre among many Venetian mansions and Turkish-era mosques. The 16th century Venetian fortress is within 10 minutes walking distance. Also under 5 minutes is the old harbour, the porta Aguora, the Loggia and the Rimondi foundation.
Nearby the house there is a bakery, many restaurants, coffee shops and gelaterias. Across the house there is also a pharmacy, a tobacco shop and many stores with souvenirs.
Within 5minutes walking distance there is also a supermarket.
Under 1 kilometre starts the 5km blue flag organised beach where you can swim, sunbath and cool yourself with iced coffee, several smoothies and fresh juices.
Access to the old town by car is only allowed between 6 am and 11am. Within 5-minute walk there are several private parking areas upon charge. However you can find several parking spaces free of charge.
It can accommodate up to 8 people in three unique bedrooms and a double comfortable sofa bed. There are also 4 smart TV with Netflix in the living room and in each room.
The kitchen is fully equipped with a fridge, stove, dish washer, microwave and a Nespresso machine.
There is also a washing machine for your laundry.
The double bedroom on the groynd floor can be used as a master bedroom with it's own private shower and balcony.
With all respect to the ΑΜΕΑ the house is not suitable for them due to the absence of an elevator. It may not be convenient for very elderly people too.
The house has a steep and narrow staircase entrance.

Our experience at Effie’s charming, two-level, perfectly located, and immaculately clean apartment in Rethymno’s Old Town was nothing short of wonderful. From the moment Effie greeted us, we were captivated by the comfort and design of her property, the thoroughness with which it was outfitted, and the appeal of the indoor-outdoor lifestyle it offered. Sitting on the front balcony above the street below, which is lined with bustling shops, became an evening ritual. We further enjoyed getting to know the shopkeepers and learning the rhythms of this city and its history. We also appreciated the closeness of a grocery store, a wonderful fresh fish market, pharmacies, bakeries, and other shops, not to mention Effie’s thoughtfulness in providing samples of delicious Cretan treats. Old Town is full of highlights, all an easy walk away. The Thursday town market, just minutes from Effie’s apartment, is not to be missed. Effie recommended wonderful restaurants, which we thoroughly enjoyed, and day trips, many of which we were able to incorporate into our ambitious driving schedule across the island. (Note that we took advantage of Effie’s offer to arrange transport from the Heraklion Airport to Rethymno, and we are so glad we did. The service was exceptional. We highly recommend it.) From the hum of Old Town’s main streets to the charm of its quite side streets, and from its beautiful Venetian harbor to its imposing Fortezza, Rethymno has found a special and lasting place in our hearts, and we can’t imagine staying in a more delightful lodging. Effie’s apartment is a home away from home. Effie herself is a professional and caring host, and an amazing person.

A wonderful stay in this amazing accommodation. Our host Effie was simply lovely. So kind and caring and a wonderful source of knowledge for the local restaurants and day trips. A highlight was sitting on the front balcony and watching the world go by. We love Rethymnon it is a magical place and we cannot wait to return.

Effie is a wonderful host. Very helpful, always thinking of her guests needs, full of useful information.
The apartment is just what we wanted. It's not on a quiet side street - it opens onto the busy thoroughfare, the rear overlooks a restaurant garden. You can sit on the terrace and watch the world go by. In the morning the rear is in shade and in the afternoon the front is in shade. So there's somewhere shaded for breakfast and again for sun-downers. The stairs from the front door are really steep (not forgetting you're in the old town) but might be troubling if you're a bit infirm. Bakery and juice bar just a stone's throw as are some of the best restaurants and bars in the town. We will definitely visit again.

I can honestly say Effie was the best host we have ever had for a rental abroad, very kind very caring, exceptional customer service. The house was exactly as stated if not better, Effie was fantastic from meeting us from the airport to seeing us off home after a great 11 day stay. We were a family of five and she could not do any more to look after us, it was perfect. The location of the house in the middle of the old town was the perfect place to stay with easy access to beach, transport and too many restaurants, cafes, coffee shops and bakeries to mention. The food, service and genuine desire to please was evident everywhere, Thank you Effie for the perfect stay, we will see you again. We did not want to go home. Paul Lesley Joshua Emily and Christian.
