Our Norwegian mountain cabin is a dream come true for our family.
We fell in love with the small village of Vrådal back in 2017. Then, in the spring of 2021, our Fjellspurven (Norwegian for “mountain sparrow”) was completed. The cabin is located at an elevation of about 800 m on a dead-end road with a beautiful view of Lake Nisser, Lake Vravatn, and the small village of Vrådal. The cross-country ski trail runs behind the log cabin, and the ski lift is about 500 m away—which, when snow conditions are good, can be reached directly from the cabin.
First floor:
The cabin features underfloor heating. The living area, which includes an open kitchen and a wood-burning stove, contains one bedroom with a 1.80-meter-wide box-spring bed. A door leads from both the bedroom and the living area to the 85-square-meter terrace that wraps around the cabin. From here, you can admire the stunning sunsets and sunrises. You’ll always find a spot in the sun or shade. The bathroom, with a shower and sink, is connected by a door to the 4-person sauna.
A large kitchenette with extensive amenities is at your disposal: fridge-freezer, induction cooktop, dishwasher, oven, immersion blender, and hand mixer.
Upper floor:
There are two bedrooms on the upper floor. One bedroom, with a panoramic view of the valley, Lake Nissersee, and Lake Vråvatn, also features two box-spring beds measuring 0.90 m x 2.00 m, which can be arranged as desired—either together as a double bed or separately. The second bedroom has two box-spring beds measuring 0.80 m x 2.00 m, which can also be arranged as desired. Both bedrooms are connected by a small hallway, which also houses a small guest restroom.
Directly adjacent to the cabin is a spacious storage room containing a vacuum cleaner, a microwave, and a washing machine. Firewood for the wood-burning stove is also stored there. A sled, 2 snow sleds, and 2 pairs of snowshoes are available for your use.
Free, high-speed Wi-Fi, satellite TV, a Sonos speaker, electricity, and firewood for the wood-burning stove are included in the total price.

Surrounding Area:
In winter, Vrådal offers 8 lifts and 18 runs in a winter sports paradise with guaranteed snow. The runs are open from mid-November through early April. There’s something here for winter sports enthusiasts of every skill level.
Whether it’s downhill skiing, sledding, or longboarding, the ski resort offers it all in a very picturesque setting.
Cross-country skiing enthusiasts can look forward to 40 kilometers of well-maintained trails.
Ski school, snow park—there’s something for everyone.
In the summer, the wonderful natural surroundings in Vradal invite you to explore the mountains, the forest, or the nearby Lake Nisser. Children can let off steam at playgrounds and the skate park, and fishing enthusiasts will also find plenty to enjoy. Right in the town of Vradal, there’s a supermarket where you can buy all your groceries. But there are also plenty of other activities to enjoy, such as a trip on the historic steamboat M/S Fram on Lake Nisser and a golf course with a small café featuring a sun terrace. At Hotel Straand, you can rent bicycles, e-bikes, canoes, and kayaks.
Vradal also stands out for its convenient location not far from many other exciting places in southern and eastern Norway, making it an ideal starting point for excursions to natural and cultural attractions in the surrounding area.
