About this cabin rental

Please note that lake levels fluctuate throughout the year due to weather, precipitation, Tennessee Valley Authority power needs and other factors. Jackson Mountain Rentals and VTrips are not responsible for these lake conditions or their impact on stationary docks, floating docks, or recreational activities like swimming, boating, or fishing. For the most current lake level information, please check with Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) official office or website. Welcome to Kajun Kove, a breathtaking lakefront property on eight private acres along the serene shores of Douglas Lake, just outside the Smoky Mountains. *Please Note: Due to the mountainous terrain of the Smoky Mountains and the surrounding area, guests are required to arrive in a high-profile vehicle equipped with All-Wheel Drive or Four-Wheel Drive during the winter season and strongly recommended to do so year-round. Access roads leading to some of our properties may include narrow roads, gravel, and/or paved surfaces, and steep grades.*

We showed up at the property and it was disgusting. Many, many problems. Nasty old furniture, missing ceiling tiles, all the bed sheets were dirty, counters were not wiped, exposed plumbing was dripping over a table. This cabin looked like it had never been spring cleaned. Owner did not communicate with us when we went a question. Now the rental management company has not refunded us, even though we contacted them immediately and did not stay there.

Lake view and location was nice. Communication with management company was challenging as the responses were delayed. Arrived at 5pm after 9 hour drive and the housekeepers (who speak absolutely no English) were just getting started. They didn’t bother with the upstairs bathroom. Then the code didn’t work for the room over the garage. We messaged about that and were told it was being repaired. We needed those beds and were not told they were unavailable. Eventually (930pm) they sent us the code- we went in to discover it had not been cleaned. I found some clean sheets and changed the beds because we were exhausted. After 11pm two women showed up who spoke no English, on the phone with someone who interpreted for them to clean the room and bathroom over the garage. Both beds in that room were broken so my teenage boys slept on mattresses on the floor for the week. We had a great time but will definitely not stay here again. All we received from the management company was “we are sorry.” The gas grill is also garbage so don’t count on that. And the water smell issue has been resolved by a very very loud filtration system that runs in the middle of the night. And it does not filter the water over the garage so that area smells like sulfur. I included photos of how we found the bedrooms and bathroom and how the beds and grill were broken.

Disappointing Stay – Property and Rental Agency Both Failed. We were very disappointed with this property and with Jackson Mountain Rentals. The water had an intense sulfur smell that never cleared out, making the house unlivable. We experienced multiple issues, including a leaking refrigerator, broken and worn-out furniture, a non-functioning sleeper sofa, and overall poor upkeep. The outdoor grills were corroded and unusable, and the hot tub was filled with algae and debris with a wrench left inside, clearly mid-repair. Carpets throughout the property were heavily stained, and the advertised sleeping arrangements were inaccurate—false advertising at best.We ended up having to rent another place because we could not stay in the house due to the water odor. Unfortunately, the rental agency offered little help. Jackson Mountain Rentals provided poor customer service. Although they sent a technician, the issues were not fixed, and the only compensation offered was 134, which is unacceptable given the conditions. The location itself is great and the property could be outstanding if properly maintained and managed with regular upkeep and a working water filtration system. However, in its current state—and under this rental agency’s management—I would not recommend this rental.

The location is awesome. A good amount of shoreline to fish, swim and explore. The house was pretty decent overall with plenty of room for our party of 6. The only complaints we had were minor. Such as the ceiling fan on the porch did not work and the propane grill was inoperable as the burners were badly corroded. Also, some of the cookware has seen better days. And as another reviewer mentioned, the water did have a rather foul odor, which could likely be rectified with a filtration system. But, despite these minor inconveniences, we really enjoyed the property and will definitely return in the future.

just wanted to say a few things about our stay at Jackson Mountain , We were so excited when we drove up to the house until it was bedtime pulled out the bed for my son to sleep and it was all broken the whole bottom of the bed laid on the floor and even the chair next to the couch was missing a leg just seemed like the furniture was pretty broken down ,Then downstairs tv did not work.. Then there was the water that had this god awful smell even after running it the smell stayed we could not drink or cook with the water so we had to purchase water and bottled water to drink , the hot tub did not work and the man that came to fix it said the water was so bad that we should not drink because it was so dirty looking . Then there was the BBQ we could not use and when we shopped we shopped to bbq our food there was a tiny briquette bbq so we purchased Ed so we could cook on it . Then there was the leak downstairs it was fixed pretty quick we actually asked to stay because packing up and relocating would of been so late and just to big of a hassle so my son slept on floor upstairs, both TVs in the bedrooms did not work but someone did get those to work but the one downstairs it’s toast .Our kids absolutely love the dock swimming and fishing there was a lot of broken down furniture down there but there were a couple chairs to sit . One of the tables in the screen patio is missing a leg we just maid sure not to sit anything on it and the Screen porch fan did not work either , but luc

It was a good location away from town. Had 7 year old granddaughter with us-her first ever trip away from home and loved it. Son enjoyed the fishing but it was too hot for me. We changed our schedule for attractions from outside to inside due to 100 heat.
