The Salino Country House which has been renovated with expertise is to be found in the midst of the green hills of the Marche region, and situated in the county of Contro at about 3 km from Gualdo ( 650 metres above sea-level), a medieval town in the province of Macerata and part of the ‘Comunità Montana dei Monti Azzurri’ ( The Mountain Community of the Blue Mountains). The farmhouse, from which there is a beautiful view of the countryside, stands on a strip of land of approximately one hectare, on a hillside that runs gently down to the stream named ‘Salino’, from which the property takes it’s name. The construction, which provides every comfort, is composed of the farmhouse and an annex with a swimming pool, able to sleep 15 people in a mini apartment, a one-room flat and four rooms, as well as a communal living area composed of a polyvalent lounge, a dining-room and a kitchen. Also included are a large garden, a car park and an olive grove.
The characteristic medieval village of Gualdo, the borough where “Il Salino” is to be found, is 3 km. away and at 650 metres above sea-level, a part of the Monti Sibillini (the Sibillini Mountains) national park. In Gualdo are all the shops that sell the typical regional products; here there are sporting facilities such as tennis, 5-a-side soccer, skating, and bowling.
At only 9 km. from “Il Salino” is Sarnano, an important thermal resort with the nearby ski resort in Sassotetto. At the same distance there is the characteristic medieval and culturally active

I stayed at this villa with 8 other people and it worked well as a home base for us as we traveled to Loro Piceno for a friend's wedding.
Pros: There was plenty of space, a well-stocked industrial kitchen (and kitchenette in the side house), each bedroom had its own bathroom, pool was nice and overlooked an amazing view.
Cons: The WiFi didn't work (though we were able to get moderate cell service there), the AC didn't seem to work (though it wasn't too hot and every room had fans), soap and toiletries were not provided. The beds were ok -- a little firm but not too bad. Also, not the property's fault, but you may want to bring insect repellant.

We (13 people, 6 adults, 6 teenagers and one 3-year old) stayed at the Salino country house for two weeks in July 2020. We have rented holiday houses in Italy for over a dozen times in the last 20 years, but this has been one of our best experiences.
The Marche area is very beautiful and there is a lot for us to discover after spending time in Tuscany and Umbria before. Beautiful beaches, amazing landscapes and it seems like on every mountain top there is another great old city to visit.
The house is located on a hillside, in a very quiet area. Sitting on the porch or next to the swimming pool, you overlook the valley below and hills on the other side and really feel you are the "King of the hillside". The house itself is fully equipped as described on the website. There was plenty of space inside for all of us to eat and hang around, even though we only needed that space just once, on a rainy afternoon. The space outside is enormous and clearly that's where we spent most of our time.
The landlord was really a big plus here both before and during our stay. Before the trip we had some doubts because of the COVID-19 situation but communication from her side was very clear and flexible. We also received a lot of information about the area and the house beforehand. Upon arrival we were taken on a tour through the house where all ins and outs were explained. During our stay the landlord (who lives in Gualdo, 10-15 minutes’ drive away from the house) was always available through Whatsapp for info on the house, restaurants, best beaches or other places to visit. We really had the feeling she wanted our holidays to be a success and because of that, and because of the great house and the amazing country that Italy is, we did have a great time.
We would definitely consider coming back to the Salino country house and recommend it to our friends/family.
