Cozy cottage tucked away in the woods

Everything you could possibly want for a get away. Beds were comfortable. Living quarters were more than expected. Having a fire in the fireplace was wonderful and homey. We so enjoyed our relax and recharge weekend there. Definitely planning on a return trip.

The cabin was cozy, the fireplace was the best, especially since it was a chilly early spring when we were there. It was pretty remote, which was nice but if you don't wish to be far from towns, etc. this may not be the place for you. Some of the dirt roads were an experience! The steps getting into the home and off the deck were a bit wonky with no railing to hold onto. The property was very peaceful. It would've been nice to know the property lines so that we could've walked through more of the woods other than the one trail we found. The beds were comfortable, water pressure in the shower was great and they provide all that you need to feel like this is your home away from home. Beautiful wood beams, ceilings and floors. I would recommend cleaning the cobwebs from the wood beams. I understand it's in the woods but not something you want to see when you look up to admire the beauty of the wood. Other than that, it was a peaceful place and very cozy. No cell phone reception at the home which once you got used to that, it was refreshing to disconnect. Room were very clean. The build in wood stove takes the gold medal. Very easy to get going and maintain. It’s a bit of a drive to ski resorts but the price point and beautiful Townshend area makes up for it. Where can you drive over a beautiful working dam to get to your rental?Skene Acres has everything you need.

Definitely need 4 wheel drive vehicle if staying here in winter months. House is located 2 miles into the woods up a steep dirt road that may not be reliably maintained/plowed during snow and ice storms, so be prepared. House is cozy, beds are comfy, dog friendly, great DVD collection, and wood burning stove fireplace. A good place to unplug and relax. Poor cell reception at house and surrounding area. 40-45 mins to Stratton across winding back roads. House is very off the beaten path if you’re skiing. Not much of anything in the immediate area food wise so plan ahead to cook at the house.
