About this chalet rental

Summary:

Like all of our Wauhatchie Woodlands rentals, the Skyuka Chalet is a quiet retreat in the woods above Chattanooga. The Chalet features a wrap-around deck with a private hot tub and can sleep up to 6 people. Guests can access a shared pool and patio with a fire pit and outdoor dining area. Please note that we are not an event space. The pool area is shared with two other homes, and parties are prohibited.

The Space:

Please note: Pets are not allowed at this property. Please ask about our pet-friendly properties if you want to travel with a pet.

The Chalet features a wrap-around deck with a private hot tub and can comfortably sleep up to 6 guests. The compound features a shared resort-style pool and patio with a fire pit and outdoor dining area.

Please note that we are not an event space. The pool area is shared with two other homes, and parties are not allowed.

This natural setting is nested less than a mile from the city with quick access to downtown Chattanooga, Ruby Falls, Lookout Mountain, and the surrounding area.

Our custom-designed Chalet combines imagination, modernity, and a woodsy rustic feel that organically compliments the natural setting.

The Chalet is reached via Trammell Lane, where you'll find two private parking spaces.

On the ground level you'll find your lower deck with a private hot tub. Upstairs, the great room features an open floor plan with vaulted all-wood ceilings and dynamic lighting. The space included a full-service kitchen, dining area, sofas, and a Smart TV. The main bedroom with direct access to the bathroom is just off the great room.

A spiral staircase leads up to the unique lookout loft furnished with bunk beds, a striking surround of high windows, and a crown vaulted ceiling.

The "cubby nook" features a double bed and Smart TV. Please note the nook has a low ceiling and might be too cramped for an adult to sleep, but the space is perfect for kids.

The main deck wraps around the entire home, offering views over the pool, forest, and river. The large back deck features an outdoor dining area with seating for six and deep seating for relaxing.

The Chalet is in a compound with two other homes, the May Family Home and the Blue House. The homes share a stunning, heated resort-style pool with an expansive flagstone patio. On the patio, you'll find lounge seating, an outdoor fireplace, and an outdoor kitchen with a covered dining pavilion (guests must provide their own, firewood, charcoal and propane.)

The pool is closed during winter, typically from October to March.

The ground floor of the Chalet serves as the poolhouse for all three properties. Guests have access to a shared washer and dryer, a workout room, poolside showers, and toilets.

Chattanooga is a city known for its railroads. There are active train tracks that border the property to the north and I-24 is about half a mile away. Please note that light sleepers may be affected by the ambient city and train noise. Each cabin has been equipped with a white noise machine to help minimize any disturbance.

Pack' n Play Travel cribs are available upon request.

To make sure your stay at Skyuka Chalet is perfect, our locally based Guest Services representatives are on-call from 8:00 am to 11:30 pm, seven days a week.

Guest Access:

You’ll have the two upper floors of the Chalet, both inside and outside spaces, as well as the back deck hot tub to yourself during your stay.

The ground floor of the Chalet serves as the pool house and is shared with guests of the May Family Home and the Blue House. The pool area and all pool amenities are also shared with those two properties.

The Chalet is located on the edge of Wauhatchie Woodlands, a 14-acre property surrounded by National Forest. Guests have access to trails around the grounds, as well as shared pavilions, community fire pits, and playground. Please be respectful of other guests during your stay.

The Neighborhood:

Wauhatchie Woodlands sits in Lookout Valley, a scenic pocket of Southeast Tennessee tucked between the Tennessee River and the base of Lookout Mountain. It’s close enough to Chattanooga to explore, yet far enough to feel like you've escaped the hustle and bustle of the city. Reflection Riding Arboretum and Nature Center is nestled right at the base of the mountain with 12 miles of hiking trails and canoe rentals to paddle scenic Lookout Creek. Those trails connect directly up the mountain, where Rock City, Ruby Falls, Chickamauga & Chattanooga National Military Park, and Raccoon Mountain Caverns round out the adventure. When you're ready for a bite or a night out, downtown Chattanooga is only minutes away.

There’s a lot happening in and around Lookout Mountain this summer. Rock City is running a season-long America 250 celebration featuring new art installations, mountaintop music, and Americana-themed events. The new Erlanger Park is only minutes away, where the Chattanooga Lookouts are playing their inaugural season with themed nights, fireworks, and live music all summer. Free concerts downtown run every Friday night at Nightfall in Miller Plaza through July 31, and every Saturday at Riverfront Nights at Ross’s Landing through September 5. Wauhatchie Woodlands is a perfect home base for all this summer fun!

Getting Around:

To make the most of your stay, we recommend a car to get around. Each of our tiny cabins can accommodate two cars in private driveways.

UBER and Lyft are available throughout the Chattanooga area, in addition to a number of local taxi services. Please note that availability may be extremely limited during peak times.

Our family was heading home from VA to Texas and we wanted to stop off to explore Ruby Falls and the war museum. We booked very last minute with zero issues. Publix was close for groceries. We loved having a cozy place to sleep after all our exploring!! Relaxing in the hot tub was a bonus! We cooked dinner and breakfast, they had everything we needed to cook! Look forward to coming back in the summer to use the outdoor facilities like the pool and roast marshmallows in the fire-pit! We will stay longer for our next visit! Thanks for a lovely stay! The parking and drive to the correct parking is a bit crazy. The entire bottom of the chalet is a public part of the building to the community and not nicely kept. There was toilet paper all over and the toilets were gross. It is a very tight property. The chalet is extremely close to a very active very loud train tracks. It didn’t bother our group but it was a bit of a shock as to just how close it is and loud it is. The actual chalet was nicely decorated and the bunk platform bed is nicely made. However the other full size bed is in an unventilated closet with no airflow. The fans for the loft are heavily caked in dust. The living space is very tight and it just overall was not what I was expecting. The pool was overrun by big fire ants and the pool lining was ripped and pulling up on the bottom. The hot tub was very nicely kept and private. We enjoyed this. The property manager was kind and very responsive and quick to let us know we did not park in the right area. There’s some nice easy trails you can walk and we enjoyed the views. I overall liked the area but wouldn’t probably rent this chalet again for the expensive price to have such a small space.
