Welcome to Rumbosun. Keepers Cottages are delighted to present this pretty 2 bedroom Fisherman’s cottage just moments from Kingsdown Beach, the perfect place to spend a relaxing seaside holiday. Situated in the charming North Road famous for it rows of pretty cottages, which leads directly to the beach. This family-owned holiday home sleeps 5 & would suit couples, families or a small group of friends. There are 2 pubs close by & the pretty village of Kingsdown is a short walk away. The vibrant town of Deal is approximately 2 miles away. For those wishing to cycle or walk, there is beautiful cycle & walking path that runs along the entire beach-front & takes you to Walmer Castle, quiet beaches & on into the heart of Deal.
This charming fisherman's cottage is full of traditional character, with narrow, steep stairs that hint at its age and history. It's a smaller space, but a wonderfully sweet one - the kind of place that feels like a proper Kingsdown hideaway rather than just somewhere to stay.
Ground floor
Sitting Room
Enter into a glazed porch and through to the sitting room with two sofas and an elegant occasional chair, throws, a TV and a working log burner. There are a selection of games in the cupboards for families.
Dining Room
Dining room with a table and chairs for 6 people. There is a view of the garden and period fireplace for display purposes only. The owners have kindly left the built-in cupboard fully stocked with a large and varied selection of lovingly collected china and glassware for guests use.
Kitchen
Well equipped galley style kitchen with a fridge/freezer, dishwasher, oven, hob and microwave.
Bathroom
Bathroom to the rear of the ground floor with a bath and overhead shower, hand basin and WC.
First Floor
A softly carpeted flight of stairs, with a nautical rope bannister, leads you to the first floor.
Twin bedroom
Front facing twin bedroom, with two single beds and a third trundle bed and some storage. This room has a pleasant view of North Road.
Double bedroom
On the left is the double bedroom with large double bed, hanging space and storage and a rear view of the garden.
Garden
Direct access to the garden is via the kitchen where you will find a surprisingly good size enclosed garden, with terrace, table and chairs and a lawn with some planting and a BBQ.
A fully enclosed lawned garden and patio with garden furniture and a BBQ.
Accessibility
Rum Bosun has one staircase leading up to the two bedrooms on the first floor. The stairs have have a bannister, but are typical of an old fisherman's cottage. There is a ground floor bathroom.
Parking
You can park along the beach for free.
Things You Need to Know
Check in is from 4pm and check out is 10am.
Pets are charged at £40 per pet per stay.
Bath towels and linen are provided, no beach towels.
There is an enclosed garden with seating and a BBQ. Guests will need to provide charcoal.
High chair and travel cot on request, please add these at the point of booking.
Central heating and log burner in the sitting room.
WiFi available throughout.
A starter pack of sundries such as toilet rolls, washing up liquid and hand soaps are provided to get you started, but you may wish to bring more for your self catering holiday - especially if staying for over a week.
There is a washing machine at Rum Bosun. Please bring your own laundry tablets

We would respectfully ask that the following house rules are adhered to, to avoid any damages. Should any damages arise please note charges may be taken from your security deposit.
Please note check out is 10am. Please ensure you vacate on time to allow our housekeepers to enter the property and prepare it for the next guests.
Smoking is not permitted in the property at any time.
Please note for insurance purposes the number of guests must not exceed the total occupancy of the house.
For fire safety reasons please do not use any candles in the property.
Please be respectful to neighbours. Quiet hours are between 11pm and 9am.
Parties and loud music are not permitted.

we had a great stay here over easter weekend! the house is so cosy and homely.
the new green sofas really make such a difference - my family has been renting this cottage for many years in the summer and we love it.
the garden so great.
loved my daily cold swims, amazing dinner at updown, deal market etc.
highly recommend and great communication by keepers cottages.
cant wait to come back

This was our second visit to Rumbosun. The cottage is lovely, well appointed and great location near the beach.
The rooms are comfortable, light and airy. There is a great enclosed garden which was ideal for the dog, which back gate access, so that they we didn't have to come back through the house.
It is very peaceful here as there isn't a lot of noise, even with renovation work across the road.
Being able to park at the back of the house was very useful too.
There a couple of minor things which require addressing in the house as it is old, the main issue being the living room sofas as they are very low and extremely uncomfortable. One of the sofas is broken and is propped up with a footstool. If these sofas were replaced the cottage would be perfect.
I will probably visit again, if the sofas were replaced.

We had a very comfortable stay in Rumbosun. The cottage has everything you need and the location is great for walks to St Margaret’s Bay and Deal.
We did flag a few things up with the letting agent on our departure, particularly the garden which is in need of some tlc as dome of the bushes were very overgrown. We received a prompt reply to say that these would be sorted.

Very well-located cottage, but overall disappointing. Very poor value for money. There is only a downstairs bathroom, which is very inconvenient. The cottage was freezing cold in late March (not sure if the heating was even on?). It generally had a look of not being cared for, and coasting on its (excellent) location. At least the kitchen was well-appointed (if tiny). Given it was only marginally less expensive per night than Downs Cottage around the corner for it (where we had a most excellent stay in 2022), this was truly very disappointing. We only stayed one night so didn’t bother making a fuss.
