Summary:
Executive house on mountain ridge. 7 bedroom, 4 bathroom. Indoor and outdoor porches with amazing sunset view. Surrounded by eastern hardwood forest. Hike down hill to Lake Gratitude and creeks. No close neighbors.
1 min drive to Lake Gratitude. Adjacent non-profit has organic farm, trails, friendly farm animals, and watercraft. 350 gal cool tank. Close to biking routes. NO PARTIES. THE BASE PRICE IS FOR SIX (6) PERSONS. $50/person/night additional charge for the number of persons over six.
The Space:
Master bedroom downstairs- King bed, sleeping couch, large walkin closet with room for single bed. Large bathroom with tub and shower. Master-suite office with single bed and work table.
Bedroom #2 Queen bed and desk; Bedroom #3 Queen bed and vanity. Jack and Jill bathroom between rooms #2 and #3. Bedroom #5 Queen bed with private bathroom.
Sunny meeting room with table, living room, dining room, kitchen with counter sitting for four and table for four. Two table in indoor porch. Additonal table on outdoor porch.
Two car garage, basketball half court, large front, rear, and side yards.

Guest Access:
There are several ways to get wet in Big East Fork Valley.
All registered guest may visit Lake Gratitude and, by appointment, use watercraft provided by staff of CSS.For donations they supply canoes, kayak, paddleboards, paddle boats, oars, lifejackets, and even bicycles. Please make an appointment with them for entry and obtaining equipment. Support their mission of stewardship education and help preserve the natural treasures of this gorgeous valley and similar ones near your own community.
Fork Inn guests have access to a large hot tubs at the McPherson Farmhouse. The hot tub at The Fork Inn is always available to our registered guests. For those hankering for an authentic country experience, we have four 300 gallon mobile stock tank pools which can be filled with sweet (or even sulphurous) spring water. Pools can be set up at any property (aaah the fun!) as well as at the Overlook or a private pasture/forest clearing (aaah the romance!).
The Big East Fork Valley is a unique watershed and there are several unique areas for dipping in the natural waters of our Creek. Love Shack Falls runs best after a good rain. A short steep trail begins at mi 2.4 SE. The upstream dipping hole is located along the Upper Creek Trail behind the Retreat (mi 0.2 S) and the downstream dipping hole is a short walk from the bicyclist parking lot (mi 0.1 S). Several sparse rocky beaches for sunning and catching crawfish, small fish, and other creek critter lie along the creek. Poisonous critters (water moccassins, cottonmouths, bees and wasps) and obnoxious plants (poison ivy, thorny, greenbriars) are present so do take necessary percautions. Thin rocky beaches are McPherson Beach (mi 1.9 N), Flatrock Beach (mi 2.0 N), Hemp Beach (mi 2.4 N), and LeeAnnes Beach (mi 3.0). Walking along the creek is a very special experience for a couple or the entire family. Bring your creek shoes!

The Castle lies just above a pristine creek within a gorgeous valley. 20 miles from downtown Nashville and 8 miles from historic Franklin and light years away from the stress of city life.
Lake Gratitude is located just down the hill is part of a 1400 acre Conservation easement. Big East Fork Farms, just downstream, provides organic produce and hosts various livestock. Thursday open-mic night at Puckett's Grocery in Leiper's Fork is a local highlight. Visit the distillery as well!
Getting Around:
Uber and Lyft serve us. There is also a local limo service. There is ample on-site parking. The property sits on a ridge adjacent to Natchez Parkway which is accessible to bikers via a short shortcut through the woods.

Interaction with Guests:
At the Castle, you will be tucked away among the trees, but should you wish to meet new friends, The Fork Inn Office is close by and always looking for new friends! We generally leave our guests alone, but we may check in at appropriate hours to see that all is going well and that house rules are being respected.

Great house for a medium-to-large group in a peaceful rural setting that's only a 10-15 minute drive from shopping and services.
Pros: The house itself is spacious and in good shape. the screened in and outside porches were the perfect place to watch the sunset and greet the morning. Wade is a delightful, personable, and responsive property manager. He not only took care of our requests, but was nice to talk to. We enjoyed hiking the private trails and feeding our compost to the farm animals. The young adult kids morphed into children at the chance to feed and interact with the farm animals.
Cons: Mice. Yes, it's in a rural area and it's natural for them to head inside when it turns cold outside. I'm not sure how long the space was empty before we showed up, but there was evidence of a mouse presence on the kitchen counters, table, and floor as well as in the master suite. We gave the kitchen a thorough cleaning, washed sheets, and Wade brought us traps right away. (On the plus side, it forced us to clean the dishes and kitchen each night.) Again, the house is in a rural area, so we rolled with it, but a thorough kitchen cleaning, including the tablecloth and kitchen rugs might have helped. Also, the kitchen could use a good set of mixing bowls and large serving bowls. The basics are all there, but if you plan to do a lot of your own cooking, ask ahead of time about specific pans and baking needs.
Neutral: plates, glasses, and utensils are a mismatched bunch. It didn't bother us. The furniture in the rec room is tired and the couch, shabby, but it's a fine place for letting loose a bunch of kids or just watching TV.

The property was beautiful and the house was perfectly sized for a wedding party. The gentlemen Wade who checked us in was very friendly and made excellent recommendations on local attractions. We would definitely stay here again!

The location/setting was spectacular. The house easily accommodates six adults with plenty of inside and outside areas for "separation". We awoke one day to find there was no water(showers, toilets, coffee.....). This obviously created problems but we kept our outing plans for the day. The issue was resolved when we returned that evening. The entire house needs a professional cleaning. The entertainment room outside door lock was broken. The garbage disposal did not work. Basic kitchen inventory was lacking and disorganized.. Mice had gotten into the pantry and we had to throw away snacks, crackers, etc. The property manager was welcoming, knowledgeable of the area, gracious, and responsive. For an upscale property at this price point, the facility should be immaculate, and it was far from being so. The water issue was the most serious, impacting basic morning needs. Compensation for this disruption to our stay should be consideted.
