The southern end of Shaw gives way to high-end shopping mecca CityCenterDC and the retail-filled Penn Quarter & Chinatown neighborhood. The dining and bar scene in Shaw sizzles, with new spots opening up on 7th and 9th Streets and in the neighborhood's quirky, historic alleyways.

Getting Around:

Closest Bus Stop: New Jersey + P NW (corner of NJ & P NW, on either side of NJ Ave NW)

96 Bus, running West to Tenleytown & East to Capitol Heights

(For Union Station, take EASTBOUND 96 bus to Mass Ave + First ST NE stop:

G2 Bus, running West to Georgetown University & East to Howard:

G2 Bus Route: https://buseta.wmata.com/m/index?q=1001465

Not to mention, there are Lime, Bird, and Uber JUMP scooters everywhere and a number of nearby Capital City bike-shares, the closest probably being at New Jersey Ave & N St NW/Dunbar HS

Other Things to Note:

Luggage drop-off is OK and can be left either in the front of the unit, in the small covered entrance area, as you pass through the locked security gate but before front entry door to unit until the place is ready for check-in.

9th Street has most things you need, from bakeries and coffee shops, to bars & restaurants, liquor stores, etc. For more serious nightlife, walk up to U Street. Try to avoid the intersection of 7&O because O Street gets crowded between 6&7th streets.

Bars: Dacha Beergarden: 7&O. Calico, The Dabney: Located in Blagden Alley on M or N between 8&9th. Bigger nightlife begins at U St. (walk North on NJ Ave, across Rhode Island, turn left onto Florida Ave and U St. begins at 9th.

The Cambria Hotel at 9&O has a rooftop bar for a quiet date spot. Likewise the Delegate has a quiet rooftop bar and is in the same building as Residence Inn Courtyard at 9&L.

Restaurants: Many restaurants are located nearby, beginning at 7th & Q. Walk West on P St. (the direction the house is pointing). French, Beergarden, Thai

Closest restaurants: Republic Cantina (Mexican): located a few blocks Southwest, ANXO Cidery & Pintxos: 3rd & Florida, BKK Cookshop (Thai): NJ&R, Convivial (contemporary American): 8&O. Tiger Fork (Asian) is some of the best Asian you'll likely have.

Groceries: Giant grocery store is ~3 blocks away at 8th St between O&P. Whole Foods is at P between 14&15th.

Dog Park: Bundy Dog Park is a fully-fenced astroturf dog park located on P St. on the next block West on P.

Pet Store: Petco located on 7th between P&Q

Marijuana: The Garden is the best dispensary in the city (so I'm told) and is located half a block North on NJ Ave (exit the property, turn right, walk to the middle of the next block). Open to the public, no card, medical requirements, or other prior authorization required.

Wine: Giant sells beer & wine. Grand Cata on 7th between P&Q for upscale wine from around the globe. There are many liquor stores nearby at 6&O, 4th&Florida, 5th & Rhode Island.

Pet is allowed, but there will be an additional non-refundable pet fee of $80.00 per pet per stay for a maximum of a five (5) night stay for the extra work involved in the cleaning and other related services related to the pet(s). Also, if your stay is more than five (5) nights, a fee of $10 per additional night will apply.

Interaction with Guests:

We offer self contact-less check-in for your convenience but are only ever a message away should you need anything at all during your stay.

Loved our stay here ! Very charming and cute. 10 min to subway and convenient. Loved all the Washington photos in the house. Only thing we missed was a VCR,a blender and you could use more dishes and glasses... but otherwise it was totally great. The extra parking spot was so appreciated. Overall we loved it !! Barb

My partner and I just spent the past 5 days at this spot and it was great! It's only a couple miles from the national mall and is perfect if you'd like to walk or bike to the Capitol and all the museums. Owners were immediately responsive to any messages we sent, they were very descriptive in instructions on how to access the property, and even gave us the access details to the on-site parking while we were in the middle of DC traffic en route to the site! If you're ever looking for a place to stay while in DC either as a work-trip or a vacation like ours, we'd recommend giving this spot a good look! We're glad we did :)

Upon arrival the back gate slammed shut into our new car causing considerable damage to our vehicle. Then our code would not work to open the lock to get into the house. After 1 hour the door was remotely opened for us. I went back and forth with property manager for another hour to make sure we had a code that would allow us access during our stay. He kept sending us the same instructions many times that did not work. Finally, we called the main office of the rental. I was told after 30 more minutes that the codes were overloaded in the lock and had to be reset. Took 2 hours to get this lock issue rectified. The next day we found out that there was a tech coming to fix the ice machine that we weren't told about until 45 minutes before he arrived. With this we missed our first tour because we couldn't leave our pup in the house with a stranger coming in.We rented for 8 days, the unit was not prepared for a long term renter:2 coffee cups, 4 bowls, 3 glasses, 3 wine glasses, 3 salad plates and one large plate. We were constantly having to wash dishes to keep them up. 1 good frying pan (other 2 had buildup on them), 1/4 full of a 'small' dish soap bottle (for 8 days), Kuerig leaked (needed constant wipe down), no cleaning supplies. Fire and police dept across the street, constant alarms all night. Exterior littered.I was asked if there was anything special we would like during our stay. I asked for Christmas decorations, there were none.Horrible Stay!!!!
